Nirmaan Organization is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Established in 2005 by alumni of BITS Pilani, Nirmaan operates across 23 states in India and has international chapters in the United States, UK, Australia, Singapore, and UAE. The organization works on diverse issues including education, skill development, health, environmental conservation, and rural development.

Organization History

Nirmaan was established on February 12, 2005, by a group of students from BITS Pilani University, motivated by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Initially, the group provided educational support to the children of workers at their university. Their work soon expanded to address broader social issues, leading to the formation of 'My India,' renamed 'Nirmaan' in 2007 and registered as a society.

The mission of Nirmaan Organization is to create a more inclusive and equitable society by driving social change through grassroots innovations, volunteering, active citizenship, and social leadership development.

Programs and Activities

Nirmaan implements programs to bridge educational gaps for underprivileged children, including digital classrooms, mobile career counseling,[1] digital labs,[2] coding program, and school transformation programs.[3] It also offers STEM labs, career guidance, scholarships, mentoring, and sports programs.[4]

SKILL DEVELOPMENT:

The organization empowers youth, women, and marginalized communities through programs such as Youth Employment, Impact Hiring, Vocational Training Center, Women in Technology,[5] and specialized skilling programs for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and LGBTQIA+ individuals.[6] It also supports entrepreneurial ventures through initiatives like Threads of Hope, Hope in a Cup,[7] and Dantewada Organic Farming.

HEALTH :

Nirmaan promotes health and well-being through initiatives like health awareness campaigns, mental health advocacy, nutrition programs, maternity and child health support, and strengthening primary healthcare services.[8][9]

ENVIRONMENT:

Nirmaan's environmental initiatives include plantation drives, kitchen gardening, lake cleaning, waste management, and sustainable agriculture.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT:

The organization is involved in the upliftment of tribal and underdeveloped villages through village adoption programs, disaster relief, and the Zero Hunger initiative.

Since its establishment, Nirmaan has impacted the lives of over 3 million beneficiaries across India. The organization is supported by more than 500 full-time employees and 1,000 volunteers, focusing on marginalized communities, including children, women, youth, PwDs, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and farmers.
