Motion Impossible is a British motion picture, film and broadcast camera support equipment manufacturer and specialises in camera movement using remote camera dolly systems.

History

[edit]

2015 - Present

[edit]

Based in Bristol, the company was founded in 2015.[1] The company was formed by award-winning wildlife cameraman Rob Drewett[2] and Product Design Engineer Andy Nancollis. Rob started his career as a cameraman in 2002 working on various wildlife cinematography productions for several BBC natural history series, including Blue Planet, Africa and Planet Earth II.

The genesis of Motion Impossible was inspired by Rob's need for agile movement during natural history television production. By using a free-roaming remote dolly system to get close to wildlife without distributing animals or natural habitat.

Since 2015, Motion Impossible has released several evolutions of the remote camera dolly, including BuggyCam,[3] Mantis & Mantis 360 (renamed to M-Freestyle[4] and M-360[5] as part of M-Series). M-Series was further augmented with M-Studio[6] designed for indoor operations. In 2018, the AGITO Sports[7] (free-roaming dolly) was released and expanded by AGITO Trax[8] (tracked based dolly) in 2019.

In 2022, AGITO Magtrax[9] was released enabling AGITO Sports systems to follow a magnetic strip or tape on various surfaces or embedded in film or TV set infrastructure.
