Comment: "Bandcamp" is not an exhaustive list, just an example of an unreliable source used extensively. IMDb and Spotify are also user-generated and unreliable sources. There are still external links in the body of the article; please remove these. It is still unclear how the subject is notable for inclusion on Wikipedia, per the guideline for musicians. Being on a podcast and a "list of musicians you need to know" according to one person, does not speak towards the subject's lasting notability, and significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Matthew Danger Lippman, or MDL is an American singer, musician, and actor best known for his album "Once You Get Low You've Gotta Start Flying Baby[1]," and for directing and starring in the short "Ain't No Cure for Love: America[2]."
Early Life
[edit]Born in Buffalo, New York in 1995, MDL started his first band, Brimstone Blondes[3] at age 14. He attended City Honors High School, graduating in 2013. After one year at Allegheny College, he attended SUNY Purchase where he met collaborators Leo Frampton, Arden Yonkers,[4] Dan Keegan, Jordan Tetewsky and Vuk Lungulov-Klotz,[5] among others.
Career

[edit]Lippman's first public music, the EP "When We Were Blonde," was released as the band Brimstone Blondes in 2013. Michael Moretti of WBNY said of the band, "Brimstone Blondes' lo-fi, light-hearted introduction is reminiscent of Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, or The Exploding Hearts." Lippman went on to release two more EPs with Brimstone Blondes ("Age of Consent," 2014 and "First Impressions are Everything," 2016) before the band disbanded in 2016.
He released his first EP under Matthew Danger Lippman (Refresh to Death) in 2017. His debut album under Matthew Danger Lippman, ILL, came out in 2018. He released two EPs thereafter (Sadomania, 2019, and Touchdown U.S.A. 2021). His second album as Matthew Danger Lippman, Once You Get Low You Gotta Start Flying Baby, came out in 2023. He is also a part of the band M0NOGAMY, which released their first EP, "Grey Area," in 2024.
His guitar, vocals, and additional production can be found in the Hah. album "all your bad habits talk behind your back," (2017); he also contributed guitar, drum machine, vocals, and production on Scout Gillett's EP "one to ten," (2022). Soon after he signed to the label Low Profile.
Lippman's single "Sadomania" appears in Vuk Lungulov-Klotz's debut feature film, Mutt on Netflix. He also appeared on The Dare's list of "musicians we need to know"[6]" in 2023.
Acting
[edit]As an actor, Matthew Danger Lippman is a supporting lead in the feature film, Samantha Rose by Andrew Morgan (2021),[7] as well as the comedy sketch, The Hard Times: Too Many Fred Dursts[8] by Paul Lewis Anderson (2022). He wrote, directed, and starred in the short film Ain't No Cure for Love: America (2022). He stars (alongside Siobhan Fallan Hogan and Creed Bratton) in the upcoming short film by Chris Scamurra, Portland is the New Portland (2024).
