Iain Charles Morley, styled The Honourable Mr. Justice Iain Morley KC (born Dublin 21 October 1965) as at January 2024 is a High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court since 2016.[1].

Education
[edit]Morley was educated in Ireland at St Michael’s College Dublin and Rockwell College Cashel, and also in South Africa at St Stithian’s College Johannesburg, before going up to read law at Lady Margaret Hall Oxford, graduating in 1987.
In 1988, with Michael Hall, he won for the Oxford Union the world universities debating championship at the University of Sydney Australia.
Career
[edit]Morley was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1988 and practiced as a barrister in criminal law at 1 Hare Court Temple and from 1998 at 23 Essex St London, taking silk in 2009[2], and becoming an Inner Temple Bencher in 2010[3].
During 2004-2012, he was in international criminal practice at the UN tribunals for Yugoslavia in The Hague[4], Rwanda in Arusha[5][6], and Lebanon in Leidschendam.[7]
He is the author of ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ (Sweet & Maxwell 2005, 3rd ed. 2015), an international well-known trial advocacy guide[8], and has taught advocacy skills worldwide[9].
On 1 November 2016, he was appointed a High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC)[10], assigned first to Antigua & Barbuda 2016-2021[11], then to St Kitts & Nevis in 2021[12], while in parallel also to Montserrat 2016-2023[13].
Mr Justice Morley has been from 2017 the Co-Chair of the ECSC sentencing guidelines committee[14], during 2019-2021 was the first judge of the ECSC sexual offences model court[15], and from 2024 is a Vice-Chair of the ECSC Judicial Education Institute.
Family
[edit]In 1989, he married Dr. Jillian Morley with whom he has one daughter and two sons[16].
