Hyperpure, an Indian supply chain service, was introduced in 2018 as a vertical by the restaurant aggregator Zomato. It is a first-of-its-kind initiative in India[1], working as a B2B model to supply food supplies to restaurants.

Hyperpure deployed a farm-to-fork model for its supply chain by sourcing directly from farmers, producers, and processors, eliminating intermediaries, with better quality and competitive pricing.[2] The company supplies fresh fruits, vegetables, grocery, packaged, and frozen products for the industry.[3]

In 2019, Zomato piloted the business in Bangaluru for supplies to restaurants, sourcing ingredients directly from farmers, producers, and processors.

In 2022, service's revenues increased by 170% to ₹540 crore (US$70 million), expanding to 10 cities. The number of restaurants under Hyperpure network grew from 12,000 in 2021 25,000 in the covid period.[4]

The company expanded during covid times in 2020 adding 20 warehouses across India.[5]

Operations

Hyperpure primarily sources a food supplies and ingredients, including fresh produce, dairy products, meats, and groceries. The initiative focuses on sustainability, aiming to reduce food wastage and promote better agricultural practices. With a direct connection with farmers and producers, Hyperpure acts as the middleman to restaurants for their supply of ingredients.

The supply chain is managed through a network of warehouses and distribution centers located to serve major cities. Zomato and hyperpure growing logistics infrastructure with assisting restaurants in managing inventory for the restaurant's operation. Hyperpure inventory management, such as regular audits, accurate tracking, and using software for automation, can significantly reduce the risk of running out of essential items. Additionally, strategies like optimizing menu offerings, nurturing vendor relationships, and strategic ordering in zomato's favour. Hyperpure has a network of around 30,000 hotels on it network and in Q3 F24, hyperpure reported a revenue of ₹859 crore.[6]

In October 2024, Zomato's Hyperpure warehouse in Hyderabad was inspected by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The inspection revealed 90 packets of button mushrooms with incorrect packaging dates. Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal attributed the error to a vendor's manual typing mistake and assured that the affected packets were rejected1. The warehouse received an A+ rating from the authorities.[7]
