From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fons Schiedon is a Dutch director, designer, creative director, and artist.[1]. He was born in The Netherlands and based in Los Angeles. His work spans various media, including music videos, tour visuals, documentaries, commercials and short films.

He contributed visuals to concerts by The Killers, Rudimental, FKA Twigs, IBEYI, Arcade Fire, and Beyoncé's Formation World Tour, and created music videos for Groove Armada, SBTRKT, Mark Guiliana, MIKE[2], IBEYI[3], GEESE[4], Jaimeo Brown[5], Action Bronson, Halsey and Marshmello[6], and Kito[7]

In 2023 he created the illustrations for Blur's album The Ballad of Darren, and directed and animated 10 visualizers accompanying the release, one for each of the album's tracks.

He directed the music video New Dorp. New York[8] for SBTRKT in 2014. The stylized 3D animation shows a mysterious cat-like figure roaming the New York boroughs at night.

In 2020 he directed and animated Lover4Now[9], a music video for Groove Armada. Created during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, the video shows a long distance relationship between a cat and a dog, who communicate through video chat, each from their owner-abandoned homes. The video was inspired by the way life changed in New York, where Schiedon lived at that time. "I wrote the treatment as New York was shutting down to handle the coronavirus outbreak. For weeks, the city remained eerily quiet, except for the frequent sound of ambulances. An audio recording of that soundscape taken from my roof is what the video opens with."[10]

Schiedon designed and animated the short film The Brown Dog[11]. Premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, the film features the voice recordings of the late Michael K. Williams and Steve Buscemi, and was directed by Nadia Hallgren and Jamie-James Medina.
