First Light is an upcoming Filipino-language drama film written and directed by James J. Robinson in his feature directorial debut. It stars Ruby Ruiz, Maricel Soriano, Rez Cortez, Soliman Cruz, Emmanuel Santos and Kidlat Tahimik. It is a co-production between Australia and the Philippines.[1]
First Light is scheduled for theatrical release in Australia and New Zealand in 2025 by Bonsai Films.[2]

Production
[edit]The film is produced by Majella Productions, in association with GoodThing Productions and Clou Media Productions.[3] Principal production funding was announced from Screen Australia, in association with with the Melbourne International Film Festival Premiere Fund. Additional funding was announced by the Film Development Council of the Philippines and VicScreen.[4]
Filming
[edit]In April 2024 it was announced by Variety that principal photography was underway on the Australian-Filipino co-production in the Philippines.[1]
Release
[edit]The film will be released theatrically in Australia and New Zealand in 2025 by Bonsai Films. Independent Entertainment will represent world sales.[5]
