Chudleigh House School[1] is an independent educational institution located in Chudleigh, Lusaka, Zambia. The school is divided into three sections: the Petronella Chisanga Early Learning Center (PCELC), the Primary School, and the Senior Secondary School.
History
[edit]The school was initially conceptualized by Mrs. Petronella Chisanga and was supported by promoters Mrs. Lalita Money, Mrs. Dorothy Kasanda[2], Mrs. Lucy Musonda, and Mrs. Maud Moonzwe. It was officially opened on July 16, 1993, by Mr. John Mupanga Mwanakatwe, who was the Chancellor of the University of Zambia at the time. The school is noted for some of its alumni, including Abhinav Walia[3], an amateur golfer who made the cut at the 2015 Zambia Sugar Open and won the Lusaka Open Championship in 2014.
Chudleigh House School[4] originally opened in June 1991 as a pre-school, with five students and three teachers. By the time of its formal opening in 1993, the school had expanded to 65 students and had added early Grade 1 and Grade 2 classes. The school’s campus has seen continuous development, guided by plans from architect Mr. Makungo, which include a library, a swimming pool, a multi-purpose hall, three administrative blocks, a staff room, and a practical subject and resource center.
Campus
[edit]The school follows the Zambian National Curriculum[5], with elements from the National Curriculum of England[6], particularly in subjects like ICT. Students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, drama, and various clubs. The school also hosts notable events and has invited Zambian celebrities, including Yo Maps and Slapdee.
Academics
[edit]The administration includes headteachers for each division of the school. Teachers at the school are described as qualified and committed to providing high-quality education. Chudleigh House School is also engaged in community outreach, with initiatives such as the Palabana Community Outreach Program[7] and the "Drop A Coin" campaign.
Admission and enrollment
[edit]Admissions are competitive and based on academic merit. The school provides information on enrollment, tuition fees, and financial aid options.
