The 2013 Nunungan Ambush
[edit]On April 25, 2013, the convoy of Mayor Manamparan was ambushed by a group of armed men at Barangay Malaig in the town of Nunungan. The convoy was on its way back home after Manamparan and his supporters attended a campaign sortie for the 2013 midterm elections. Thirteen of Manamparan's supporters were killed, while nine were fatally injured, including Mayor Manamparan. The ambush was said to be motivated by a longtime rival clan of the Manamparans.[1][2][3][4]
