Category:Quaternary magmatism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Igneous petrology of the Quaternary period (about 1.8 million years ago to the present day). The Quaternary sometimes is a semi-deprecated term, with some scientists replacing it entirely with the Neogene period (and moving the last two episodes of the mostly deprecated Tertiary to the Neogene), and other scientists retaining it as the period after the Neogene, but many especially older igneous petrology references refer to the Quaternary, sometimes without mentioning the specific epoch or time span.
