Białowierśnie [bjawɔˈvjɛrɕɲɛ], is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Giby, within Sejny County, Podlaskie Voivodeship, in north-eastern Poland, close to the borders with Belarus and Lithuania.[3] It lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) south-west of Sejny and 106 km (66 mi) north of the regional capital Białystok.
From 1975-1998 the village was administratively governed by the Suwałki Voivodeship.
History
[edit]In the 18th century the village, which had 6 fibres, belonged to the Camaldolese estate in Wigry. In 17th and 18th century it was inhabited by several to a dozen farmers[4].
In 1827 it was recorded that the population of the village numbered at 111 and 11 homes[5].
