Ahoo Daryaei

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ahoo Daryaei is a young Iranian woman who protested by walking in public in Iran wearing only her bra and panties.[1] She displayed her defiance of compulsory hijab in front of Tehran's Islamic Azad University.[2] The university has confirmed her detention.[3] Soon thereafter, numerous articles were published around the world explaining "Who is Ahoo Daryaei" or "Where is Ahoo Daryaei"?[4] She is currently (as of November 2024) in jail in the Islamic Republic.

Amnesty International demands release of Ahoo Daryaei.[5]

The University has announced that Daryaei has a "mental disorder."[6] At the same time, she was applauded for her "boldness" and "courage."[7]
