Zach Horton is an American football tight end for the Indiana Hoosiers. He previously played for the James Madison Dukes.

Early life and high school

Horton attended Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Virginia. Coming out of high school, he was rated as a three-star recruit and held offers from schools such as Navy, Army, Air Force, Eastern Michigan, Coastal Carolina, and James Madison.[1] Horton committed to play college football for the James Madison Dukes.[2]

College career

As a freshman in 2021, Horton appeared in eight games where he did not record any receptions.[3] In 2022, he received playing time as backup tight end, where he hauled in 13 receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns.[4] In week five of the 2023 season, Horton had a breakout game, hauling in three receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns, as he helped the Dukes to a 31-23 win over South Alabama.[5] Horton had a breakout 2023 season as James Madison's starting tight end, where he recorded 27 receptions for 275 yards and six touchdowns, where for his performance he was named first-team all-Sun Belt Conference.[6] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Horton entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[7]

Indiana

Horton transferred to play for the Indiana Hoosiers.[7] He entered the 2024 season as the Hoosiers' starting tight end.[8]
