Zach Horton is an American football tight end for the Indiana Hoosiers. He previously played for the James Madison Dukes.
Early life and high school
[edit]Horton attended Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Virginia. Coming out of high school, he was rated as a three-star recruit and held offers from schools such as Navy, Army, Air Force, Eastern Michigan, Coastal Carolina, and James Madison.[1] Horton committed to play college football for the James Madison Dukes.[2]
College career

[edit]As a freshman in 2021, Horton appeared in eight games where he did not record any receptions.[3] In 2022, he received playing time as backup tight end, where he hauled in 13 receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns.[4] In week five of the 2023 season, Horton had a breakout game, hauling in three receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns, as he helped the Dukes to a 31-23 win over South Alabama.[5] Horton had a breakout 2023 season as James Madison's starting tight end, where he recorded 27 receptions for 275 yards and six touchdowns, where for his performance he was named first-team all-Sun Belt Conference.[6] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Horton entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[7]
Indiana
[edit]Horton transferred to play for the Indiana Hoosiers.[7] He entered the 2024 season as the Hoosiers' starting tight end.[8]
