Yuri Tsunematsu (恒松 祐里, born October 9, 1998), is a Japanese actress who is affiliated with Amuse. She made her debut as a child actress in a tidbit part in a 2005 television drama Ruri's Island and has since appeared in many notable television dramas, such as 5→9 From Five to Nine, Sanada Maru, and as the lead actress for the season 2 of The Naked Director.

Career

[edit]

Tsunematsu's career began when she was in kindergarten.[1] There was an audition for the agency Amuse and Parco nearby, and her parents heard about it and wanted her to try out, so she applied and managed to pass both auditions.[1]

Tsunetmatsu debuted as a child actress in a tidbit part in the 2005 television drama Ruri's Island and had her first film appearance in the movie Killer Virgin Road in 2009.[1] In 2015, she made her first appearance in an Asadora television drama, Mare.[2] The same year in October, Tsunematsu was given supporting role in the drama 5→9 From Five to Nine. She originally participated in auditions for the role of Junko Sakuraba, but the part was given to Satomi Ishihara. Tsunematsu was accepted as the main lead's younger sister, Nene Sakuraba, marking her first regular role in a television drama.[3]

In 2016, Tsunematsu appeared in the 37th episode of the Taiga drama Sanada Maru.[4] The same year on June 7, she starred in the 9th episode of the drama Bishōjo Next Girl meets Tokyo [ja], marking her first lead role in a television drama.[5]

Tsunematsu starred in episodes 5 and 6 of the January 2020 drama 100 Character Ideas Made into a Drama! [ja].[6] She also won the Newcomer Award at the 2020 Osaka Film Festival for her performance in the film Sea of Revival [ja], which was first released on June 28, 2019.[7]

In 2021, Tsunematsu attracted much attention for her nude scene as the lead role of season 2 of the Netflix original drama, The Naked Director.[8] She also played the role of the protagonist's classmate and childhood friend in the morning drama Welcome Home, Monet, her second Asadora drama appearance in six years since Mare in 2015.[9] The same year on July 10, she released her first photo book in titled Monthly Tsunematsu Yuri.[10]

Tsunetmatsu made her first lead role in a film in the movie Kisaragi Station, which was released on June 3, 2022.[11]

Personal life

[edit]

In 2013, during the FNS 27-Hour television program, when comedian Sanma Akashiya was asked to choose his most desired women in the industry in a segment called Love Mate 10, he chose then-14-year-old Tsunematsu as his sixth choice, which caused quite a stir online.[12]
