Yanbian Museum (Chinese Korean: 연변박물관) is located in the People's Republic of China Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province, the capital of Yanji City, a national second-class comprehensive museum, the national 4A-level tourist attractions, the implementation of Yanbian Museum, Yanbian Korean Folk Museum and Yanbian Korean Revolutionary Memorial Museum three plates a set of team, both local history and Korean ethnic characteristics[1][2]

Yanbian Museum was founded in 1973, the premises have changed three times. Currently located in Yanji City, Changbaishan West Road covers an area of more than 20,000 square meters, with a collection of nearly 15,000 pieces of cultural relics. The museum is equipped with Yanbian unearthed artifacts, Korean folklore, a thousand years of righteousness - the history of China's Korean Revolutionary Struggle three basic displays, as well as China's Korean Nongle Dance and Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture Achievements Exhibition two thematic exhibitions [1] [3]. 2013, Yanbian Museum “Yanbian Korean folklore exhibition” won the tenth national museums In 2013, “Yanbian Korean Folklore Exhibition” of Yanbian Museum won the 10th National Museum 10th Display and Exhibition Excellence 2012 Excellence Award [4].

History

The history of Yanbian Museum can be traced back to April 19, 1960 when the Preparatory Office of Yanbian Museum was established to protect and manage Yanbian cultural relics. During the Cultural Revolution, the Preparatory Office was abolished and turned into an exhibition hall. It was only after the end of the Cultural Revolution that the Yanbian museum business was restored, and in January 1973 the Yanbian Museum was formally established. [5][2]

In April 1982, covering an area of 12,350 square meters of the three-story Yanbian Museum premises in the Yanji River and Burkhartong River confluence was completed. The following year, the Yanbian Museum of Korean Folklore was approved for establishment, forming a set of two brands with the Yanbian Museum.In 2002, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, a new Yanbian Museum building was constructed on the west side of Jindalai Plaza in Yanji City.In 2007, after the Yanbian Korean Revolutionary Memorial Museum was approved for establishment, the Yanbian Museum became a set of three brands with one team. In 2009, Yanbian Museum was listed in the National Cultural Heritage Administration as a national second-class comprehensive museum [1][3]. In order to meet the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, the current Yanbian Museum's new hall began construction on June 10, 2010 at Changbaishan West Road, Yanji City [6].In September 2012, the new hall of the Yanbian Museum was opened [2].In 2014, the Yanbian Museum was selected as a national 4A-level tourist attraction [1][3].
