Winnie Nwagi

Winnie Nwagi, born on 20 July 1990, is a Ugandan singer[1] and songwriter. She is currently signed under Swangz Avenue, a music label based in Uganda.[2]

Early life and career

She was born in Namasuba, a commercial town north of Kampala, and raised by her single father. As a teenager her father kicked her out and she also dropped out of school.[3]

She started singing at school[4] and, continuing to perform, she struggled to record at many studios.[5] After competing in a TV talent show, she gained the attention of music producer Benon Mugumbya, who gave her a contract with Swangz Avenue.[3][6]

Nwagi Winnie's popular songs include firedancer, musawo, bunsonso mola and embeera, released in 2014.[7]

She has one child, a daughter.[3]
