editintro parameter broken

[edit]

As pointed out by sawyer777 at the newsroom talk page, the "Start article" button for "Featured content" currently fails to preload content, even though the corresponding template exists at Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Templates/Story-preload/FC.

It looks like this is because of a bug in this template regarding the editintro parameter (which only gets a value for "Featured content" currently, explaining why the preloads for other sections still work). The generated "Start article" button links to

but it should be

https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?action=edit&preload=Wikipedia%3AWikipedia+Signpost%2FTemplates%2FStory-preload%2FFC&editintro=Wikipedia%3AWikipedia+Signpost%2FTemplates%2FStory-preload%2FFC%2Fintro&title=Wikipedia%3AWikipedia+Signpost%2FNext+issue%2FFeatured+content&create=Start+article

(i.e. the "&" before "editintro" is missing).

@JPxG: did you test this aspect before and after your recent whitespace-optimizing edits to this template?

I don't see anything like that when I click the 'start article' button for 'Next featured content'. I get
https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?action=edit&preload=Wikipedia%3AWikipedia+Signpost%2FTemplates%2FStory-preload%2FFC&title=Wikipedia%3AWikipedia+Signpost%2FNext+issue%2FNext+featured+content&create=Start+article
And it preloads everything just fine. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 17:36, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It seems you are unaware of the stopgap changes JPxG made in the meantime, removing support for the "editintro" parameter entirely (see also [1]). Regards, HaeB (talk) 18:58, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
