Frightening Results

[edit]

Wow. This is a scary result. What if Jimbo suddenly decided to "cut off" the flow of this information? I thought Wikipedia would be a way to help end the era of media that is limited to the control of a select few, it just seems that the Wikimedia Foundation is becoming the new select few. First, I can't see how it will succeed. Second, the actual content of all Jimbo's Wikipedia, Wikimedia, Wikia, and Wikisaria efforts are free not only in terms of free of cost but also free as in the freedom to take that content to other sites on other servers. Third, Wikimedia is a non-profit organization run under US law governed by many board members who believe in freedom. Bottom line is Jimbo has zero power to "cut off" any of the content (information). And he goes out of his way to structure it that way. Which is why he is a key leader in the free culture movement. Maybe Don't Panic isn't such a bad idea for the front of an encyclopedia after all. WAS 4.250 08:01, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
