Low voter turnout

[edit]

So far only six non-neutral votes (not !votes, right?) have been cast and only two users have voted. So what if we have a three-way tie for each position? Guoguo12--Talk--  02:39, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Mono voted a minute before I wrote this, so the numbers aren't technically correct. Guoguo12--Talk--  02:41, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Probably co-cords or volunteers for administrative assistants. At this rate we're going to have a 4 way tie for assistant=) Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 02:50, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe we should tell people?

[edit]

Four votes, and all four are from people running for office. How about we use our new member list to send messages out? Nolelover It's football season! 21:37, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Fire up the MessageDeliveryBot. Guoguo12--Talk--  21:47, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am on my way to the "run bot" button.=)Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 21:55, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Sumsum. And on a related note, is there any reason why we should have two member lists? Now that we've sent messages to everyone on the original, can I replace it with the new list and delete that page? Nolelover It's football season! 22:09, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/Participants and Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/Participants/New? Guoguo12--Talk--  22:16, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I assume he does. Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 22:23, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think we only one. This probably should have been deleted and moved with a redirect a month ago. All that is left of the original is a random mess of usernames.Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 22:23, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's what I meant, sorry. I'm going to replace the old page with the list that's on the new and put a redirect there instead. Nolelover It's football season! 23:14, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just in case someone notices; Yes I did make a Typo on the heading to the invite. I meant to put "Wikify" but instead I typed "Wikiky". However, the links are correct. Though I should let everyone know in case someone asks. (I think this is one for my "Top 5 Funniest Typos List"!)Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 22:53, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And remember how we asked members to confirm their membership by February 2010? Ugh... Nolelover It's football season! 23:20, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For those running for both

[edit]

For those running for both Exec. and Assist. positions, if a user (i.e., Diannaa) does not specify which position is being voted for, it defaults to ...? Another question: Should Exec. votes for those running for both also be counted as Assist. votes? Finally, how exactly will the results be calculated? Guoguo12--Talk--  20:09, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would imagine we would count those votes as one executive and one assistant vote, and tally them separately. Whoever gets the most exective votes, that person gets the executive position. Same for assistant. I also wondered about executive votes. I guess we should only count them as executive votes, since that's what the voter has specifically stated. Nolelover It's football season! 20:18, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Out of curiosity, who is running this election anyway? The candidates, me included, don't even know the official rules. Also, the way you put it, there's no distinction between neutral and oppose votes. Guoguo12--Talk--  20:52, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was also going to ask about N's and O's. Since, this is approval voting, it would seem that opposes don't mean anything. Nolelover It's football season! 21:11, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Opposes would probably just be counted as comments for the candidate. Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 23:47, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems as though an exec. vote could count for Assist. as well. Since exec. is a slightly higher position, and would thus require more trust, an exec. vote would imply competence for the higher and that would cascade down to all lesser positions.(Sorry if that idea was confusing) Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 00:26, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, that makes sense. The only reason not to do that would be because some users have specified an executive vote, and not an assistant. Is this almost voting for them? Nolelover It's football season! 13:43, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose it could be looked at that way. If it comes to it we could always just ask people. Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 00:17, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Results

[edit]
  • Mono - Twelve votes, all for executive.
  • Sumsum2010 - Six executive votes and 7 8 assistant votes.
  • Nolelover - Five assistant votes.
  • Guoguo12 - Eight assistant votes.
  • WikiCopter - One executive and assistant vote.

I am assuming that all "executive" votes also count as assistant votes. By my count, Mono is our new executive coordinator, and Guoguo12/Sumsum2010 is assistant. Nolelover It's football season! 00:53, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

By the count "Six executive votes and 7 assistant votes" does that mean I ended with a total of 13 for assistant or do some of those count one user, two votes? (Just curious, because by the above counting method I believe I have more votes) Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 03:49, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Most of that is one user, two votes. Here's how I tallied your votes:
  • Executive:
    • Guoguo12
    • Diannaa
    • Ancient Apparition
    • Cjmclark
    • Pjoef
    • ErrantX
  • Assistant:
    • Nolelover
    • Guoguo12
    • Mono
    • Diannaa
    • Ancient Apparition
    • Cjmclark
    • Pjoef
    • ErrantX
Naturally, you're right, and I missed one of yours. Does this mean a runoff, (which I am strongly against) or just two assistants? Nolelover It's football season! 13:57, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think two assistants would solve the matter most effectively and quickly. (Sorry to make a fuss about this!) Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 23:36, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, no, no! This is just as well. I think two assistants is the best situation anyway - notice the GOCE has two or three assistants as well. Nolelover It's football season! 01:24, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for the help! Sumsum2010·T·C·Review me! 02:16, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Two assistants is fine with me. Congrats Sumsum! Guoguo12--Talk--  02:41, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
