Membership updating
Due to the scant commenting by others beside myself on this talk page, I am going to try to gauge the active participation of the user in this task force to see how many users are still active here. What I will do is temporarily create a separate list of "inactive" members on the task force page and move all the names down there. I will then send a message to all current members to ask them to verify if still active (which will simply be done by moving the user's name from the "inactive list" to the "active list") or remove of no longer active. After two four weeks, those still left on the "inactive list" will be removed. Of course, anyone who wishes to come back are free to re-add their name onto the list. MuZemike 19:39, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- Note: Upon request, I have extended it to four weeks. MuZemike 23:31, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Merge SSB task force
FYI- There's a discussion about merging the Super Smash Bros. task force into this task force. Comments from members here would be appreciated. (Guyinblack25 talk 19:35, 9 April 2009 (UTC))
- Support – It's pretty much complete (i.e. the series is a Featured Topic), not to mention too small and too inactive. MuZemike 21:30, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
- Support - I agree the task force has done great and now really a merge would be appropriate. ISmashed TALK! 15:03, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Update- The SSB task force now redirects here. I moved the talk page to an archive under this talk page. There are still a few loose ends left though.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Super Smash Bros./Barnstar
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Super Smash Bros./Members
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Super Smash Bros./Userbox
Any thoughts on how to handle them? (Guyinblack25 talk 19:13, 15 April 2009 (UTC))
- My opinions would be
- If barnstar was used, appears to have been properly substed, could be removed if no one complains
- Merge top members and recent members to this member list or post about the change on members' talk pages
- Turn userbox into redirect for {{User Nintendo task force}}
- —Ost (talk) 19:56, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ditto #1 and #3, and the first part of #2. I suggest substing the template in #1 to make comply. --Izno (talk) 20:10, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Barnstar
Should be deleted. I don't see any transclusions of the barnstar after clicking the "What links here" on the barnstar page.
- Members
I was going to do the same thing as I just did with the membership update, but I'll run this through to make sure it's OK. My plan is to again create an "inactive member" list below the current Nintendo Task Force list at WP:NIN (i.e. the left panel) and merge all those names into there. I will then notify all those users of the merge, and if they wish to include themselves in the Nintendo task force, they can move their name up to the active list. After a month, all remaining entries in the inactive list will be removed. This will give the Nintendo task force a good gauge in its active membership so as to not inflate numbers.
- Userbox
Redirecting would make this a cross-namespace redirect. With the small edit history, I would think this could also be deleted.
Those are my recommendations for the three. MuZemike 21:29, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- I think the barnstar can be kept with some tweaking, but I must admit with the main articles of high quality there's little reason to give it out now.
- Merging the member list sounds like a good idea. I assume the page will be redirected to the Nintendo left panel?
- Redirecting to the Nintendo user box should be fine. cross-namespace redirects are more an issue when it involves the Main space. Since this is template and WP space, it shouldn't cause any issues. (Guyinblack25 talk 15:19, 17 April 2009 (UTC))
- I've already merged the memberlist into Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Nintendo/left panel and notified everyone on that list of the merge. All those users will have a month to confirm active membership in the task force as I noted above before I remove those who are no longer active.
- What specifically did you recommend with the barnstar as far as tweaking is concerned? We could, as an alternate, redirect to the Nintendo barnstar as recommended with the userbox. MuZemike 16:19, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hey there; I know it doesn't matter much, but I was wondering why I'm not included on the list of inactive members, even though I was on the original SSB list. Just a minor curiosity. I think I've made my status clear anyway. Cheers. Ashnard Talk Contribs 21:49, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I figured you said that you wouldn't be adding your name on the "active" list when the task force did the membership update last month. I figured I'd save you another talk page message and placement on the inactive list again when it's not necessary. I can add you back on there if you really want to :) MuZemike 22:02, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- That's very considerate. Cheers. Ashnard Talk Contribs 10:05, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

- In regard to the barnstar, I would say change it from "The Smash Bros Task Force Barnstar" to "The Super Smash Bros Barnstar" and move it to the Template space. But redirecting it to the Nintendo barnstar should work well too; I honestly don't see anyone receiving it in the future. (Guyinblack25 talk 00:07, 18 April 2009 (UTC))

- I was bold and redirected the barnstar and userbox to their Nintendo equivalents. Though feel free to send them to RfD.
- I think the only other loose end is to remove the SSB parameter from the VG project tag on talk pages. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC))

The matinence mode for the Wii doesn't appear to be mentioned in the article it self or any other related article. 'The Ninjalemming' 20:55, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Barnstar Ribbon
I got a question. Should we have a Barnstar Ribbion? I mean, why not? I can understand if we can't have one, but maybe we should. GamerPro64 (talk) 01:55, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
- I would design a ribbon for the Nintendo Barnstar (like with the Ribbon for the VG barnstar), but I don't know how to design one. That is, I don't know how to design a ribbon as far as color patterns are concerned (or any type of ribbon, like military or police) or specific software in which to design one. Otherwise, I would be for designing one; I use ribbons for all the barnstars I have received on my user page as they don't clutter up a user page at all, and I'm kind of a military buff. MuZemike 22:21, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, does any other member know how to make one? GamerPro64 (talk) 22:27, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
- You could ask S@bre about how to go about designing one (he created the VG Barnstar ribbon). MuZemike 22:44, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
DSi
The DSi has been released (just got mine) and with it comes more pages. We may need to start working with the DSiware releases as they are unique to the dsi —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ismashed (talk • contribs) 19:08, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- How is it, so far? Anyways, you may want to look at List of DSiWare games and applications, which is already started. MuZemike 19:31, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah it looks good, sorry I forgot to sign my comment. Anyway yeah some articles will need creating and improving for the actual games just like what hes happened with the wiiware games (which I did a lot of). But all the release games are nintendo so maybe they may need a look at. I'm just alerting members to the possibility of more articles. If only we were more active... Essential Articles
the essential articles panel on the right toolbar seems broken as the characters tab is empty. Any perticular reason? ISmashed TALK! 22:35, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- Remember that the page is transcluded from Wikipedia:WikiProject Video Games/Nintendo/Essential articles, which is transcluded onto Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Nintendo/right panel. Yeah, it's a bit overkill on transclusion IMHO. The next thing I want to do is try some new designs for the task force page so it's a little more accessible. For example, I just placed the GA and FA lists on the main page itself without putting them in a separate file, making those lists a little easier to edit. MuZemike 22:43, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Proposed new TF page design
Been working on this in my Sandbox (still a work in progress). It combines everything onto one page, and some of the code is cleaned up, which should vastly improve usability and being able to edit it more easily. I have also slightly incorporated the design from P:N. Let me know how it looks, and make any additional suggestions if need be. MuZemike 00:39, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

{{Mario-stub}} nominated for deletion
I have nominated {{Mario-stub}} for deletion as it only has 14 stubs listed in there, and most are appropriately stub-sorted as Nintendo stubs. If you would like to discuss, see Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion/Log/2009/May/30. MuZemike 05:44, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- I support the deletion, so along those same lines, why not Category:Pokémon stubs and Category:Rareware stubs, with 17 and 22, respectively? If someone else agrees, I'll nom these two and their associated templates for SFD. ~ Amory (talk) 06:32, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- The Rareware-stub probably won't get much resistance in regards to upmerging or deletion, but I strongly recommend starting a discussion at WikiProject Pokemon before nominating the Pokemon-stub for SFD, as that is not within this task force. MuZemike 06:57, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- That is, not necessarily. The Nintendo task force covers Pokemon articles, but WikiProject Pokemon specializes in Pokemon articles. It needs a discussion over at that WikiProject before going for deletion. MuZemike 07:05, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. Apparently I'm part of it! In light of that, actually, I think I'll just stick with the Rareware. The pokestub could actually be useful if a new batch came out, for example. ~ Amory (talk) 07:17, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Giving a shout about it because it's one of the project's top priority articles, but I nominated Link for featured article review because of it's current quality. If people could take a look and offer input or improve the article that'd help greatly.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 18:50, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Proposal
Alright, here's the deal. I'm a big fan of the old Nentindo 64, and I noticed that there was a large amount of 64-related pages that had lost their ratings. I propose to launch Operation 64 Salvation, let me describe. We go to 64-related articles, and get them back on the featured list. Game Watches
Should there be an article about Nintendo Game Watches (or perhaps game watches in general), like this Legend of Zelda watch? As a child, I remember having Mario Bros. and Tetris game watches, and a Google search shows at least Star Fox and Donkey Kong versions. I know that we have a Game & Watch article, but these seem to be a separate line of products and the LoZ one is the first mention I've seen of them. Are they notable? —Ost (talk) 18:42, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

A bunch of Nintendo hardware subtemplates have been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. User:Dancter has informed me that they were used to reduce clutter but it appears that they are no longer used in that capacity. Help with Japanese
I was wondering if anyone with the required language skills could confirm the CERO rating for the re-release of Super Mario Kart on the Virtual Console (I'm pretty sure it's A). Relevant links - the official Nintendo page for the game and the CERO website. Just an identification of the link would be appreciated. Guest9999 (talk) 17:55, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
- The CERO's site doesn't have Super Mario Kart listed (for SNES or VC; see here), and Nintendo's Japanese site doesn't seem to mention a CERO rating. Sorry. -sesuPRIME 05:24, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Is GoNintendo.com reliable?
Well, is it? -sesuPRIME 02:53, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- Doesn't look like it is. A lot of the reviews on that website is user-submitted, and with no proof of fact-checking or accuracy, I can't see how it's a reliable source in any way. MuZemike 16:39, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm with MuZemike on this. Ignoring the reviews, all of the news stories look like copy-pastes from other webpages or were emailed from users (same thing) with no accreditation and with nothing added. It could be useful for finding out about news that one could then reliably source elsewhere at the proper location, but it itself is not reliable. Also, I think a good rule of thumb to be added to WP:RS is that any website that has All Your Base Are Belong To Us on the navigation banner, even if it's one of a random series of quotes, is never reliable (especially since the other random quotes are just internet/video game memes or stolen from bash). ~ Amory (user • talk • contribs) 16:54, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
