Almost the end of the month and no one has even started this. I was coming here to say I was going to see if anyone else wanted to deliver it... yikes! IS anyone working this issue? ++Lar: t/c 00:48, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you are going to deliver it - I don't know if anybody else knows how? I'm adding in stuff from the usual sources, and doing my "pretty please" pleadings around a few places. It may not be much, but there will be something to deliver soon.LessHeard vanU 22:39, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I Want to Hold Your Hand lost its FA status. Real Love is currently at FARC. Both Sgt. Pepper and Beatles for Sale had their GA status revoked. LuciferMorgan 22:42, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Delivery

[edit]

I'll deliver it this time. And I will put a writeup of how I do it somewhere, ok? But next time maybe someone else? Note that using AWB is probably faster than how I do it, my technique is driven off a list User:Lar/sandboxB of the subscribers that I maintain (links to JUST the talk pages to make it go fast) and use of some JavaScript (User:Lar/moretabs/monobook.js which is invoked from my monobook.js) to avoid having to type the same subst text over and over... that latter is not required. ++Lar: t/c 23:12, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It will need to be someone other than me; I understood the first two sentences of the above, and then I was lost... I don't program/write at all.LessHeard vanU 13:47, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Is anyone gonna send out this Newsletter? Just curious. LuciferMorgan 20:17, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Lar is on it.LessHeard vanU 00:13, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Working on it now, sorry for the delay. FYI the subscriber list was moved to User:Lar/Beatles Newsletter Subscriber List so I could find it again! :) ++Lar: t/c 19:35, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Delivered

[edit]

Newsletter has been delivered. We have a LOT of people that I think are maybe dormant. I noted who those are on the bottom of the User:Lar/Beatles Newsletter Subscriber List. Maybe next month they get a stub saying "we think you're dormant, this is your last one unless you strike your name from our dormant list" or something. I used AWB this time instead of my custom java script... so it IS doable with AWB. I'd like to NOT be the delivery person next month but I can be if I have to be. I have also changed the newsletter itself to be "delivered" with the now standard silver box. Someone else can set up the next issue from the template though... ++Lar: t/c 22:00, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, tell me where the template is and I will see what I can do (I'm assuming that there are instructions!) I think I may also issue an appeal on the project talk page for someone to act as postie. I assume that you will point any volunteer to the correct procedures if need be?LessHeard vanU 22:44, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Template is here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_The_Beatles/Outreach/Newsletter/Template and it has instructions. The archive and list need sorting (8 isn't next any more, 9 is) which I will do if you don't. I can also do a writeup for AWB or whatever if desired. ++Lar: t/c 00:25, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you could add the AWB writeup to the instructions with the template (but separately, pretty please) then I can cajole some other unsuspecting foopublic spirited individual to do the delivery - somebody who understands the stuff. I will take care of creating each months newsletter until someone tires of my style.LessHeard vanU 22:41, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. I will try to deliver next months in a bit less of a rush and take time to write up what I am doing in AWB as I go (often the best way to capture this stuff I find...) ++Lar: t/c 17:42, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
