Question
What are the main neighborhoods in TS2? :) Thanks Save The HumansTalk :) 21:49, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
- Strangetown is one of them. But what are we talking? PC, PSP, etc?

Scope Issues
Hmmm... did this go through the WikiProject council? I doubt it would have been approved...
Would me much better to create WikiProject Maxis, and have this as a taskforce. 3 articles, plus a couple of expansion packs? Come on... I though WP:TUK had a small re-mit, but now i've seen this.
Still, as I said above, I will try and help anyway. Oh an RE:Simpsons Fan, I am getting the above oversighted as it's not suitable.
Thanks,
- The requierment for a Wikiproject is 5 user. We have ten. Plus it is NOT required to go through the concil but it is suggested. And so why is this a "Scope Issue"? :) Save The Humans:) RFA :) 19:43, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, various things:
- How many of these users appeared after the project had started?
- It is good form to go through the council. You yourself have suggested that people start task forces, so why not start WP:Maxis and make the task force? I am afraid that, even though I think The Sims is awesome, it isn't large enough for a whole project.
- The scope is tiny, compared to lots of projects.
- BG7 21:47, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry for jumping in, but I agree with BG7. This should've been a taskforce of WikiProject Video Games. But it's no big deal - what's done is done. Joelster (talk) 21:58, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think before it's to established it probably is best to either change to WP:Maxis and create this as a task force, or do as Joelster suggests.
- As we're at WP, we'll wait for consensus rather than having a vote!

- Lol. I speak Spanish. But do they have WikiProjects there? And is there consensus? And don't use translators. I did this:
- First String
- The big brown dog ran across the road to the pond, but got squashed on the way.
- Comes out as
- El gran perro marrón corrió a través de la carretera a la laguna, pero se aplastados en el camino
- Which is
- The big brown dog ran across the road to the lagoon, but was crushed on the road
- And the golden rule? Don't trust translators!

My View
Hello, I have been off-line for a while, however I thought I would come back to see how the project is going. I was surprised and slightly saddened that BlueGoblin had entered and decided to shut down the project, and make ts a much smaller part of a larger project. If you would take the time to look at my views I would be very grateful. I know that I left on the middle of a "discussion"; however I am surprised as to how fast things have moved. I am aware that I suggested this sort of expansion earlier, and the general consensus was to continue as is, or to create a larger Wikiproject Maxis. I can see how this would be a good idea, however I believe this would result in two things:
1. The project being absorbed into a much larger Wikiproject EA
or
2. The resulting arguments over if Maxis exists any more.
As to the latter, there have been a small discussion on this at Talk:Maxis, and the consensus reaches was basically that the studio and workers carry on as normal, however all of their games are sold under the name EA rather than Maxis. The article that the Maxis logo has been mainly removed from the Sims 2, and it is unlikely it will feature in the Sims 3.
As such I put forwards that the Project stay at WP:Sims, however it is expanded to cover all Sim games, not just The Sims, i.e.: SimCity, SimEarth, SimAnt, SimLife, SimFarm, SimRefinery, SimTower, SimHealth, SimIsle, SimTown, SimPark, SimGolf, SimTunes, SimSafari, SimCopter, My Sims and Spore (originally SimEverything). I believe this solution would be best for everyone, with little changes while still expanding the scope. I know this has been discussed before (by me originally) however I believe it should be brought to the fore once more.
Thank you for your time 23230 talk 18:21, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- There was a WikiProject EA Games, but needless to say, it didn't last long. But the series was created by Maxis, so the scope could be increased to include it. If games are still made by Maxis, they belong to Maxis, no matter what is on the box. Still, I think I too suggested increasing the scope to encompass all Sim games. This would be the most effective solution. .:Alex:. 17:00, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think the project be left alone and just have the scope updated. Electrical Experiment 23:54, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
why should we have
- {{Sims series}}
- And
- They are different for a reason. The Sims Series shows only the games from The Sims series. Whilst Sims Series shows any game with Sims in the title. Jammy (talk) 17:56, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

- Treesrock was the original editor, but he retired and then got blocked as a sockpupetteer. I took over the project.
- Have a go coding the June Issue if you want!

- I agree, this page is becoming too long. We can remove most of the discussion on the logo, the SimStar and the user box, as they have all been resolved. By the way, I like your new ribbon! --23230 talk 09:15, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Various - IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ!!!
Hello all members,
Following all your comments, I would like to propose the following:
- We create Wikipedia:WikiProject Maxis, and have The Sims as a task force. I would be up for just scope enlargenment, but pretty much all of Maxis's games are Sims related, it would be better, and be more to WP liking to have WP:MAXIS.
- We take the project offline for a few weeks, to enable use to revamp it. This will also tie in with whatever we decide to do with it.
- I would also like to do the following:
- a). Revamp the portal
- b). Revamp the newsletter (i've discussed this with some users)
- c). Create a proper article assessment scheme, rather than just tagging articles.
And any more you can think of!!!
Thanks,
BlueGoblin7even 09:21, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- I was reluctant at first, but whatever. I'm fan of Maxis games, way back to the first SimCity, but I don't necessarily want to obsess over articles about all their games (just The Sims games). But I beg to differ on your first point: most of Maxis games are not Sims related. Most of their recent titles are, but SimCity only had Sims as residents of their cities, but they weren't player-controlled avatars as they are in The Sims.
- Despite the widening of the scope of the project, if the project has any members left after it's changed, I think the majority of people will only contribute to The Sims articles. That's why this project got so many participants in the first place. — Frecklefσσt | Talk 17:20, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, to take your points:
- Just because WikiProjects have a large scope, DOES NOT MEAN that editors have to edit there, thus the use of taskforces.
- That's what I mean. They all involve Sims some way or another.
- 10? That's a lot is it? I should say if this project has any left after they've all retired or been blocked. As far as i'm aware only about 1 has actually "left". One who announced leaving was a WP:SOCK of a user already on there. BG7even 17:33, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, to take your points:
- No offense though, but Wikiproject Sims sounds better than Wikiproject Maxis. Wikiproject Sims even has more of a meaning to it. Jammy (talk) 17:55, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Agree totally. In fact, those of you who have keen eyes may have noticed that all day I have been making it WikiProject Sims, for all Sims related games, not Maxis. Oh and have a look at user:Bluegoblin7/Sandbox7 for a view of the future (still under construction you understand!) BG7even 18:08, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

- The Newsletter dosnt need a new format. Sincerely, ElectricalExperiment 22:17, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yes it does. For people using Screen Readers (i.e. people who cannot or are unable to read the screen without a software programme reading it to them) it is impossible to read! And i'd prefer it if you didn't re-create/undelete pages when i'm revamping the project - they're not needed! Thanks, BG7even 12:55, 31 May 2008 (UTC)c
- Well It was set to go out yesterday why cant we start with the new format next issue? Sincerely, ElectricalExperiment 13:01, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- Because it looks shoddt if that's done. I've reverted all the posts. Please, bare with me on this. If you want to help, please tag articles with {{WPSims}}. Thanks, BG7even 13:04, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have a question. Who put you in charge? Sincerely, ElectricalExperiment 13:06, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- Noone did - but i'm taking the lead by making headways. Trust me - this is best for the WHOLE WikiProject. Pretty much everything in the newsletter is against policy! See Wikipedia:WikiProject London Transport/The Metropolitan for one that's compatible with screen readers, and also one that has proper content in it! BG7even 13:07, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yes the content can be disputed but the format is standard format. Sincerely, ElectricalExperiment 13:10, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- Either way, it still shouldn't come out yet! Can we take this to our talk, as it doesn't relate to the project. Thanks, BG7even 13:12, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
