- I have been doing some work to improve the classification status of the article on the only Congressman to die in the line of duty, Congressman Leo J. Ryan. Leo J. Ryan was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. He posthumously received the Congressional Gold Medal. He represented California's 11th congressional district. Please let me know what you think, at Talk:Leo Ryan/Comments. Thank you for your time. Smee 19:28, 28 January 2007 (UTC).
I have created a massively comprehensive article here, including current and historical perspectives, and with respect to the diverse population, particularly the African American community. However, I would still like to flesh out the content, layout and design, particularly a lot more. Please, let me know what you think! Thanks. - Freechild 19:39, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, hope anyone can collaborate on these for improvement, but since finishing the previous article I've broke it out into History of North Omaha, Nebraska, Landmarks in North Omaha, Nebraska and Timeline of North Omaha, Nebraska history. I've also created Saratoga, Nebraska, Fort Lisa, Cabanne's Trading Post, Florence, Nebraska and East Omaha, Nebraska in relationship to the North Omaha article, and have added to the Nebraska Territory article lately, too. I also did up Fontenelle's Post and Fort Ponca. All these are Nebraska-related, and need attention from people who know how to write Wiki articles better than I. Thanks in advance. - Freechild 23:16, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- That quickly grew into List of articles related to North Omaha, Nebraska. I'm also working on the Omaha area in general, as well as various articles from Category:Forts in Nebraska. - Freechild 04:41, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
U.S. County Infoboxes
Almost none of the Nebraska counties are using the Infobox U.S. County template. Lots of work to be done! /Timneu22 01:42, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

- It looks like all these have been done, however the editor(s) didn't use {{USCensusPop}} — instead, some hand-made table was used to show the templates by decade. Any change these articles could be improved? (See McPherson County.) Timneu22 (talk) 16:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

- Hey Swid, where does Template:Nebraska-geo-stub link to so that I can see a list of those articles? Love to have something random to work on. – Freechild (BoomCha) 23:23, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- If you want something random to work on, you could find all the websites for the individual counties and link them in their info boxs :)--Rayc 19:28, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

villages/cities - pictures and history request!
I've been browsing through pages for villages and cities in Nebraska (from those two category pages) and adding reqphoto to most of them. I think it would be brilliant if some of you could drive round and take pictures to add them to those pages, possibly with a link to Wikicommons with yet more pictures...Anyway, for me as a European I'm also very interested in how things come about - history! A lot of those pages don't have a history section, which I think is a shame.Zigzig20s 15:33, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Reorganize project page
Since the wikiproject is getting revived, I plan to revamp the current project page. I have a few ideas for templates that could be used:

- 7.2% C-Class
- 2.1% B-Class

Blaze Wolf Please let me know what you all think Etriusus 04:32, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

- Someone said rainbow! I'm not from Nebraska, I've been through the state, but I'm willing to help. I'll start by looking for articles related to the state that may not have the project template on the article talk page. Seems simple enough of a task for me to do. --ARoseWolf 15:38, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- For whatever reason I didn't receive a ping@Etriusus: Looks good! Maybe we could include a key somewhere on the page saying what the colors in the progression rainbow bar mean. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:50, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

New Project Page
Here's my working draft at the moment. It is still a work in progress, and I'm adapting it from a few other wikiprojects I've run into over the years. If anyone wants to add to, or fix anything, feel free to help. Once the page is finished, we can migrate it here but for the next few days, I will be working on it. (I plan on adding the templates and tasks still, clean up the messy code)
I dumped it in a sandbox for the time being: User:Etriusus/sandbox2
@ARoseWolf: and @Urve: Tell me what you all think.
Etriusus 00:38, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Etriusus: I'm noticing that there's some code that's displaying the bare code. What's that supposed to do? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:16, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: Its an error tbh. I just haven't gotten around to fixing it. This is very much a work in progress, and by no means the finished project, hence the code errors. Do you have any other feedback? I'm debating if I should put a participants section or just create a subpage. I also plan on making a template and tasks subsection. Essentially adapting the current page's content into a more organized structure. Etriusus 02:21, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Etriusus: Ya I think it should be made into a subpage. I would've messed with the page by now, however I wouldn't know what I'm doing and I don't want to break the page as it is right now. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:24, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- Fixed it Etriusus 02:23, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Etriusus: It looks like the page that you fixed the state on has some stale discussions on it (the main page but not the talk page). Including one from July 2021(!). Mind helping me figure out what to do with these? Usually a discussion never manages to get that old. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:43, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: It appears these are unresolved discussions. The bot updates daily. The project has been dead for a while so it isn't surprising that there are some very old alerts. They will cycle through as they're resolved/editing ramps up here. I'm more concerned that multiple templates of ours are left under Wikipedia:WikiProject Mississippi. Etriusus 02:50, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Etriusus: That's concerning. What templates are those? I'll fix it (or at least, try to). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:51, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: I already got the ones I could find. Maybe just go through Wikipedia:WikiProject Mississippi's template category and look for anything Nebraska related. Etriusus 02:58, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Etriusus: Looks like you get them all. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:01, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf:, I finished drafting the new project page. Check it out here and lmk if there's anything that needs to be changed. Etriusus 23:36, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Etriusus: I like it! ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 00:39, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf:, Great!! If there are no objections, I'll take it live tonight. There is a minor formatting change that needs to be made but the page needs to be in a Project space (as opposed to its current user space) for the template to load properly. It'll make the article alerts look substantially neater. Once the page is done, I'll probably turn my attention to the massive backlog of unknown importance/unassessed articles. Etriusus 01:23, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

Rating unassessed articles
Hello! So since there's a lot of unassessed articles, I suggest everyone in the project to install WP:RATER. This will greatly help with rating unassessed articles as it can do some ratings automatically ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:49, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Omaha Steaks request
Hi Wikipedia editors, I'm a part of the communications team at Omaha Steaks and I'd like to see if a member of the Nebraska WikiProject can review a request. On the article's Talk page, I've shared a draft that I put together to streamline the article's content and update references.
I will not make any changes to the page myself due to my conflict of interest, so I'm hoping editors can help with this. Thanks, Omaha Steaks Ashley (talk) 16:12, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Omaha Steaks Ashley: Hello Ashley! Thank you for putting an edit request in instead of directly editing the article yourself since you have a COI. I'm currently taking a look at your request, although I will most likely request the help of other editors in reviewing it. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:02, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Omaha Steaks Ashley: Could you possibly move your draft of a revision of the page to your sandbox? It'll prevent some of the semi-automated tools people use for COI edit requests for getting bugged. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:21, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: Thank you for the replies here and on the Omaha Steaks Talk page. I've moved the draft to my sandbox and made the change you suggested. Sorry about the formatting issues, I'm still figuring things out! Omaha Steaks Ashley (talk) 22:53, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Omaha Steaks Ashley: It's alright. I was a bit confused as to why my response was in your draft until I asked at WP:VPT. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 12:54, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

User script to detect unreliable sources
I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (
John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.
)
and turns it into something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14.
It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.
The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.
Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.

Omaha Steaks request
Hi Wikipedia editors, I'm a part of the communications team at Omaha Steaks and I'd like to see if a member of the Nebraska WikiProject can review a request. I've shared a draft on my Sandbox [1] that streamlines the article's content and update references. The Wikipedia editors I was previously working with are taking a break from Wikipedia so I'm looking for another editor to help.
I will not make any changes to the page myself due to my conflict of interest, so I'm hoping editors can help with this. Thanks, Omaha Steaks Ashley (talk) 14:02, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi there, just popping in to see if there's anyone on this page that would be willing to review the Omaha Steaks draft on my user page? Please let me know if there's anything else I should do here before these updates can be implemented. Omaha Steaks Ashley (talk) 14:41, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
