Not a national award and arguably not an important award

Stubøprisen.
The prize is not a national award - it is a regional award. (How much more than 300,000 people live in the region, I am not sure of.)

It seems like the winner in 2013 and the winner in 2015 are not wiki-notable; I am fine with those winners being redirected to the article about the prize.

However, the only move I am making for now is to give my support for someone else to get the ball rolling:
Perhaps one should note, on say this discussion page, when consensus is reached that the
*1989-winner is notable enough to be redirected (to the article about the prize), but not keep the article about the individual artist for now.
*1991-winner is notable enough to be redirected, but not keep the article for now.
*1993-winner, and
*1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2017, 2019.

(An alternative might be that someone becomes bold, and redirects one name at a time - redirects to the article about the prize. One could perhaps start doing this around say the 15th of January.)

Youngblood Brass Band

Would someone from this WikiProject mind taking a look at Youngblood Brass Band and assessing it? It's not clear how the band meets WP:NBAND, but maybe this is a case of WP:NEXIST. The article was created in 2006 and over the years it might have been primarily edited by band members or fans. Its talk page had no WikiProject banners or formatting until I tried to clean things up a bit; so, the article never seems to have been properly assessed. I'm not sure whether this genre is covered by this WikiProject, but some other articles in the same category do have this project's banner on their talk page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:11, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Al Hall, Bassist

I am Al Hall's oldest grandchild and the holder of his archives; approximately 13 large rubber bins of papers, ephemera--playbills; menus; flight information, recordings, and pictures

Hi LCEverstz, I am thinking that Wikimedia Commons and/or Wikisource might be better places (than Wikipedia itself) to upload archival material; see s:Help:Beginner's guide to adding texts. (However as that page suggests, this might raise issues of copyrights, where the work was created by, or belongs to, someone else.) You might want to put a note on your user page along the lines of what you mentioned above (e.g. "I am Al Hall's oldest grandchild and the holder of his archives") just so other editors know where you're coming from – and I don't really like to frame it this way, but you may want to review WP:DISCLOSE. Bela Fleck discography

I have done major edits to the Béla Fleck discography including properly formatting it. It's not easy finding sources about him considering. Three things I would like to find if possible which are singles are singles, chart positions of albums and singles, and album certifications. You would think you'd be able to find that information. Jazz discographies of modern figures generally don't have any of those things, because there are few or no singles, and either nothing hits the charts or people who are likely to look at the discography probably care about other things (recording dates, personnel, perhaps others) more than charts and certifications. Perhaps more helpfully: Billboard hides most of its chart history behind a paywall now. With some (or a lot of) effort it's possible to find some chart information by searching here. If you have an old Billboard url that you know used to have relevant chart data, then you could use the internet archive to try to find archived versions of the page(s). For non-Billboard charts, go to the relevant website and search (I think Lamro is good with 'international' charts, so might be able to provide more detailed guidance). Getting Started Jazz only

I've done a few edits here and there over the years, nothing else much.

I write the ctproduced.com blog, am working on research for a biographer and separately for a producer, both are working on work centered on jazz producer Creed Taylor.

As part of that I've been doing interviews with musicians, arrangers and business related people who worked with and for Creed. I've also been working with the library and archivists at Duke University.

Many of the existing pages for people I've talked are weak and lack details and citations/references. For example Leonard Gibbs, even Creed's page needs work. As Gil Scott Heron said "I'm new here". Except like Gil, I'm not. I have no idea who to do a major update, if there is a staging area if I can create a new version of a page and get feedback etc. I've looked through the archives for this page and didn't see anything obvious.

Would anyone be willing to act as a mentor, provided I do the work? Is there a great starting place to see what should be done for a "typical" jazz musician? Any guidance welcome?? Cathcam (talk) 23:46, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

Cathcam... Mentor? Possibly, if I have time. There isn't much guidance on taking a poor article forward. For biographies, there's a summary at the Biographies Wikiproject (WP:BTIP), but it's not very practical. What you could do is use your sandbox to work on an article that already exists. This is a good idea if you're not confident of what you're doing or the article gets attention from others. Your sandbox (accessible from the link near the top of your user page) is a place where you can experiment and build up content before moving it to the article itself. Your sandbox is also visible to other editors, so you can make changes there and ask others to look and comment. On moving from a poor article to a 'better' one: you could look at some that are officially rated Wikipedia:Good articles and compare the current version with an old version in the edit history (click on 'view history', change to view 500, then click on the circle next to an old edit and then 'compare selected revisions' to see the differences compared with the current version; or just toggle between looking at an old version and the current one). For example, here's a short one that I worked on: Richie Powell now versus before I started. A caution I offer is that we need reliable sources, so your (presumably as yet unpublished) interviews can't be used, and some other things from archives would be classified as not reliable sources here either. EddieHugh I must apologise for not responding, what I thought was a part time gig has become so much more than that. I will read the guide to biographies over the next month or so, with a view to creating a sandbox version and get feedback. Thats a good idea. I've published my write-up on Doc Gibbs, and a podcast of sorts, unfortunately he died. Am currently working on same for Margo Guryan who died last week. I try to source second or third citations for as much as I can. Since I have so many places to reference, it's usually possible assuming published newspapers and magazines count.
