Portal

James Bond has been nominated for a featured portal review. Portals are typically reviewed for one week. During this review, editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the portal from featured status. Please leave your comments and help us to return the portal to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, portals may lose its status as featured portals. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here.

GoldenEye FAC

Diaa abdelmoneim has nominated GoldenEye for FA status, here. Any help in improving the aritlce would be much appreciated. The previous FAC didn't get much attention, so comments on the FAC page would be very welcome. - • The Giant Puffin • 12:47, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

OHMSS

I SpecialWindler will be on Wikibreak for a month and will appreciate if the GA review on OHMSS is put on hold that some editors will pass it through. Also, Licence to Kill has become the next colloboration after TMWTGG. Thanks all.  The Windler talk  19:46, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

My 1954 Casino Royale plan

As fellow contributors may be aware, I asked whether the 1954 screen adaption of Casino Royale was a film? From the limited response I got back was that it wasn't a film, but it couldn't be classified any where else.

Now this may seem radical, and I understand if some of you will oppose it, but I'll propose it anyway. The main reason behind this is that I can't see the article improving beyond it's current status as there is little to no sources. Theres not even a plot section. And I would like to see the films become a good/featured topic.

OK:

  1. Class Casino Royale as not a television episode and not a film, therefore taking it away from the James Bond films template.
  2. Delete/Redirect the article to [[Casino Royale (novel)#Adaptions]]
  3. Moving the information there is there to that section, in a more neat format.
  4. On the James Bond (film series) page, make reference to this as a TV episode but not a film.
  5. If referencing to something about the films and this tv episde collectively, they should referred to as "Screen adaptions" (eg. There have been 8 actors to portray JB in screen adaptions, but only 7 in films).

That's my proposal, and I hope, but don't expect it to go through.  The Windler talk  10:36, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 05:44, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 09:17, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

You are subscribed to the Alerts but neither display the alerts nor give a link to them. Giving a link on your main page (Wikipedia:WikiProject James Bond/Article alerts) or removed the display=none parameter from the subscription banner would be a good idea.Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 01:29, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Interesting 1965 reference for various details about films, the character, Sean Connery, and more

This June 1965 article from Time magazine on "Bondomania" is filled with details about the Connery bond films and the worldwide phenomenon it caused:

http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,833710,00.html

I have referenced it in From Russia with Love (film) but I would guess it could be cited in another half-dozen articles about the franchise. Given WP's tendency towards WP:Recentism, particularly for pop culture, it's nice to stumble on a reputable source for such details. 67.101.6.243 (talk) 03:16, 11 May 2009 (UTC).

The above article is being re-assessed as part of the GA Sweeps project The re-assessment has been placed on hold. It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass; otherwise it will fail. See Talk:James Bond for things needing to be addressed. Jezhotwells (talk) 17:49, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Dr. No (film) GA Sweeps: On Hold

I have reviewed Dr. No (film) for GA Sweeps to determine if it still qualifies as a Good Article. In reviewing the article I have found several issues, which I have detailed here. Since the article falls under the scope of this project, I figured you would be interested in contributing to further improve the article. Please comment there to help the article maintain its GA status. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! Request for comment on Biographies of living people

Hello Wikiproject! Currently there is a discussion which will decide whether wikipedia will delete 49,000 articles about a living person without references, here:

Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people

Since biographies of living people covers so many topics, nearly all wikiproject topics will be effected.

The two opposing positions which have the most support is:

  1. supports the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, User:Jehochman
  2. opposes the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, except in limited circumstances, User:Collect

Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that by default, editor's comments are hidden. Simply press edit next to the section to add your comment.

Please keep in mind that at this point, it seems that editors support deleting unreferenced article if they are not sourced, so your project may want to pursue source these articles as soon as possible. See the next, message, which may help..

James Bond articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the James Bond articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Domino Petachi

In the Domino Vitali article is refers to the NSNA name reverting to the novel's original name of Petachi. I am trying to build up Dr. No to get it back to an A Class article once again. I need a bit of help on a couple of points, largely around the Broadcast television versions and a new section on the legacy of the film. Is there anyone who could lend a hand for a final edit and polishing? There is a summary of the work left to do at Suggestions for improvement. Having seen what a few helpful souls can do with regards to getting GA status for Dr. No, I'm trying to spark some interest in doing the same for the next non-GA film, Goldfinger. Is anyone able to help with this? Many thanks for anything you can do - pointing out problem links, dodgy sources, where citations are needed, adding in extra info or any form of help you can give: it's all most welcome! I want to see Goldfinger back at GA status in less than a month and as we managed it with Dr. No, so we can do it with this one too! Thanks for all your help! - Schrodinger's cat is alive (talk) 12:42, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Bond 23

Hello. You might want to keep an eye on the Skyfall disambiguation page and the Skyfall (film) article. If you have not heard, this is only the rumoured title for the 23 Bond film. Eon, MGM and others have not yet made an official announcement. I have already tagged Skyfall (film) with {{prod}}. And James Bond in film is currently under semi-protection for this issue too. merge writer articles?

There has been a suggestion Wikipedia_talk:Did_you_know#Any_advice_on_Robert_Wade_.28screenwriter.29_and_Neal_Purvis to merge the two articles on the writers Wade and Purvis since it appears that pretty much everything they have done, they have done together. Is there any objection here? -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 15:40, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

  • It's too late as the merge has happened, but it does mean the article needs to be policed permanently in case the partnership ends in the future or if one of the partners does an independently notable project. 70.72.211.35 (talk) 15:41, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

RfC on the Skyfall page

I have recently opened an RfC regarding the plot summary of Skyfall, the text of which reads:

Comments are invited on an issue with the Plot summary of the Skyfall article. A character is shown in the first scenes of the film and the plot summary currently contains a wikilink. Her surname is not revealed until the final scenes of the film and can be considered a minor twist, although not one that affects the film's plot. Is it more appropriate to link the name at the front of the summary, or to leave it until the end (and refer to the character by her first name throughout the rest of the summary)?

Comments are welcome regarding the above at at the relevant talk page section. - SchroCat (^@) 10:44, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Letting yous know

Skyfall has been nominated for Good Article status. Any further work would be appreciated. Rcsprinter (chatter) @ 21:32, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

As you are a drive-by nominator who has done absolutely no work on the article, why don't YOU do the edits. The article isn't ready for GA and still needs work done as it is missing key elements. The GA Nomination page says: "Nominators who are not significant contributors to the article should consult regular editors of the article prior to a nomination": not only are you not a contributor at all, you didn't let anyone know at all what you were doing, or whether there were any plans to update or alter the article significantly. I suggest that rather than slapping a GAN tag on a page then exhorting others to do further work, you withdraw the GAN for now and try doing some of the updates yourself before it is re-nominated. - SchroCat (talk) 14:51, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for providing a nice frosty atmosphere to work in. It's been withdrawn anyway, see Talk:Skyfall. Rcsprinter (speak) @ 22:38, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
If you'd have done some work on the article or discussed it with the article's main editors then it would be a lot less frosty, but a drive by nomination on the back of no work (then asking for others to do the work) all for points for the bloody WikiCup is a poor approach. - SchroCat (talk) 03:33, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

Error in book article; question about trilogy films

Just browsing some of the articles, I have flagged a couple of items. I note these on the talk pages, but I thought I'd mark them here too:

  • The Octopussy and the Living Daylights article contains a factual error. It states that the short story Octopussy had not been previously published prior to the book's release in June 1966. In fact, it had been serialized in two issues of Playboy magazine in the spring of 1966. Reproductions of these articles, with dates, can be seen here. The book article has a GA designation, so if I try to add this as an IP I'll be reverted automatically so maybe a project member can make the correction.

Trilogy?

  • When Quantum of Solace was released I recall media coverage indicating it was considered part 2 of a trilogy. Skyfall clearly isn't part of any trilogy. Is there any media coverage/interview to confirm that the trilogy started with Casino Royale and Quantum was indeed abandoned? Or alternately, is Skyfall actually considered the third part if one considers the trilogy to be establishing the 007 status quo (i.e. Q coming back, etc). 70.72.211.35 (talk) 15:37, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

A Category Is Missing

Hey there. I haven't been on Wikipedia in a while and sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes by coming straight here, but I just noticed while looking at a list of films that none of the James Bond films have the category of [[Category:Spy films]] listed on them. Lotus Esprit S1 Sub Car for Auction

Bonds submarine car (or one of them) as used in The Spy Who Loved Me (film) is coming up for auction in September 2013, as reported 3 July in the UK Telegraph here. Another source with more info is here I added info about its impending auction to the List of James Bond vehicles, ‎and to Lotus Esprit as a reference for it's ability to convert into a submarine.

Now however, I am not certain that it is the correct car, as it is, or was, on display at the National Motor Museum, possibly for a short time as a special Bond Car exhibition. However the Tele says "Although occasionally displayed, the car spent most of its time out of the public eye." This version is the only "one [that] was converted to a fully operational submarine car". Can anyone clear this up for me? Feel free to revert me if I've got it wrong. --220 of Borg 12:23, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Leaflet for Wikiproject James Bond at Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

  • Is there anyone else who would consider getting involved to put something together? The Bond project is small and mostly comatose these days, (especially as most of our main articles are GA or above), but does anyone else still actually have this page watchlisted?! Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Thunderball Rights

Is this a valid source? Did Eon really finally settle with McClory's estate to recover Thunderball rights? http://comicbook.com/2014/11/24/christoph-waltz-to-play-blofield-in-bond-24/ Emperor001 (talk) 04:43, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Draft and Redirect classes

I think the project should consider expanding Template:WikiProject James Bond to include Redirect and Draft classes. It would help split Category:NA-Class James Bond articles so that redirects like May Day and drafts like Draft:May Day (James Bond) are identifiable. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 14:12, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

Template:Bond girls

{{Bond girls}} has been nominated for deletion -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 09:36, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

List of James Bond films

I have nominated List of James Bond films for featured list removal here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured list criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks; editors may declare to "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. One of your project's articles has been selected for improvement!

Hello,
Please note that George Lazenby, which is within this project's scope, has been selected as one of Today's articles for improvement. The article was scheduled to appear on Wikipedia's Community portal in the "Today's articles for improvement" section for one week, beginning today. Everyone is encouraged to collaborate to improve the article. Thanks, and happy editing!
