The group indicated above was recently revitalized for, among other things, the purpose of working on those articles whose content is such that the article does not fall within the scope of any particular denomination. To most effectively do this, however, we would benefit greatly if there were at least one member from this Project working on those articles. On that basis, I would encourage and welcome any member of this Project willing to work on those articles to join the Religion WikiProject. Thank you. Badbilltucker 22:43, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Wikiproject Festivals

Hey everyone I started a festival project on my talkpage to better expand the knowlage of festivals from around the world. my most recent participent told me to come to you it find out if this project can become merged with yours or if its better suited to just be on its own. this project that i have started has nothing to do with holidays and is all about the festivals held around the world. the project was started to expand the knowlage of festivals from everywhere around the world as long as they have been around for at the least 5 years and 15000 participents within one of those years. the project is here any help from anyone intersted is much appreciated. also im intrested in your desicion on making this a part of the holiday project so please get back to me thanks Maverick423 02:52, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

User talk:Maverick423/Wikiproject:Festivals

i suggest we declare the two projects as sister projects and post them as such on the Project pages to keep a dialog between the two groups on these sometimes overlapping articles. Some thing 00:07, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Sister projects it is. Well then with that settled we are recuriting people to start helping. so those intrested just add your name to it. A proposal to rename a series of holiday-related articles. Please comment.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  04:44, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Giant Cheese Day

Would anyone with knowledge of Guatemala like to weigh in on Giant Cheese Day?--Fisherjs 11:27, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Proposed Festivals merger

It has been proposed that this project merge with Wikipedia:WikiProject Festivals. I would personally support such a merger, given the generally overlapping subjects of the related projects. John Carter 01:31, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

oppose - the festivals project, last i read, dealt with alot of things that holidays wouldn't get into such as Rock n roll festivals and local festivals, and it also mentions that it would concentrate on things that are "not holidays". so i think that gives the holiday project a dominant position but still very separate focuses. the overlap is a problem i have dealt with before, but i think by keeping dialog with the festivals project we can iron it out on a case by case basis. Some thing 04:23, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

This article is in dire need of attention. I found it under another name. It has long, rambling unsecioned text, improperly formatted footnotes and other problems. I cleaned up a few things. I'll try to include it in some categories and templates to see if I can attract some attention to it. --Steven J. Anderson 20:19, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

its inappropriately named and seems to be lifted from an essay. it cant be refined without drastic dispersal and or cutting of information, to the point that you could pick and choose what the article is really about. i nominated for deletion. if you value any of the specific info, i suggest finding an appropriate article to merge it into. Greetings from WikiProject Calendars

Hello. I am the founder (and currently the only member of) WikiProject Calendars, whose goal is to make a complete calendar (including Holidays) for every year. I am a busy person, and do not always have the opportunity to fill up each month with holidays. Therfore, I inivte the members of WikiProject Holidays to assist me is this worthy goal. --Munchkinguy 18:00, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Holiday Heart Syndrome

I notice that the Holiday heart syndrome article is included under the scope of this project. Given that it's a medical condition caused by alcohol binges such as might happen while one was on holiday, is it really appropriate? I'd vote to remove it from the list. Hello, all

Hello all. I am working on an article about Christmas tree farms and am looking for some outside perspective. Feel free to chime in on the talk page of the user page linked below. This is where I am working on the article. Please bear in mind, I haven't written an intro, there are places that need expansion, and it is probably filled with typos and/or other minor errors. Also, any helping finding reliable sources about European and British Christmas tree farms would be appreciated as well. Thanks for your help. IvoShandor 10:00, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't know if anyone has the time but bringing Christmas and Nativity of Jesus up to GA status for Christmas would be a good thing. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast 01:54, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I just joined this WikiProject because I am already so involved in Christmas-related articles that I should be part of the project. I have been pretty heavily involved in editing reindeer articles (I created Santa Claus' reindeer with the help of FT2). Unfortunately I do not have time to bring up the status for those articles before Christmas, but I could help if there were other people interested in doing so. --Merond e 07:50, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
I fixed the grammar from Santa Claus' reindeer to Santa Claus's reindeer.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 05:51, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

These two articles are quite similar to one another. The first is ostensibly about "Thanksgiving" in general while the second specifically relates to the American holiday (by contrast, Thanksgiving (Canada)), but Thanksgiving is still mostly about the American holiday. Something should be done about this. -- Tromboneguy0186 (talk) 19:26, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Infoboxes

I have an idea for an infobox covering the "elements" of holidays (characters, items, etc.). Here is my idea User:Merond e/Holiday Element Infobox, and here is an example of how it might work User:Merond e/Example. Feel free to edit the infobox or comment on how it could be edited! --Merond e 07:35, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

i dont know where to comment but your differentiation between "official names" and "also called" brings up issues of cultural bias. for instance, in great britain "Father Christmas" is the "official name".99.140.188.207 (talk) 03:25, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
