Assessment
Hello. The first thing I've thought of doing for this workgroup would be to look through all the unassessed files and pick out some of the Marvel articles that really ought to have been rated by now. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, whenever, but soon. :) BOZ 15:34, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds like a plan - if you tag the header with the workgroup they will appear on the workgroup's list on the front page. I've found the simplest thing is to just throw in a quick assessment though as I go through. That say the next phase would be targeting the stubs and adding enough to move them up to start, cuts out a whole step. I'd imagine those currently lacking assessment are going to largely be starts and stubs of low importance so you can rattle through them (the key thing is to flag if anything needs an infobox as that is an important issue - flagging lack of image is also handy. I've put all this in the sample talk page header template - see the creators for when you tag people). Anything that is unclear people can post here for a quick look. (Emperor 16:11, 30 October 2007 (UTC))
OK, got it. I've just put a lot of work into sifting through the thousands of articles in the list, so if someone else would make sure to tag the headers as Emperor suggests, that would be a big help.
This list isn't a long one, but I was trying to pick out some of the more significant articles which are particularly notable. I'll do it again later with a bit less discrimination after these get looked at.
These should probably all get at least a Start rating if not better:
(ED. Note: moved list to new "Mid-Importance" section below.) BOZ 19:45, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
(note that the beginning and end of the alphabet have been fairly well maintained, while the middle not so much…)
I think that's a pretty good selection to start with. There are plenty more Start-worthy articles in the Unassessed category, but of course there's all the time in the world to get them assessed. BOZ 18:45, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- P.S., if you do assess any of these articles, please do remove it from the list. Thanks! :) BOZ 22:58, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Unassessed
These articles are currently unassessed, and all look to easily be at least Start-class.
(none currently)
Start-class candidates
These articles are currently rated as stubs, but I feel they could be Starts, if not better, or would be Starts if a few adjustments are made. Either they were originally under-rated, or they have been expanded since they were originally rated.

Potential C-class articles
These articles are currently rated as Start-class, but I feel they could become C-Class or better with a few adjustments (or may be there already).
- I've only looked at Abomination (comics) but that article is mostly focussed on plot. There needs to be a lot more rebalancing of articles in favour of sourced material on the creative process in these articles, rather than the plot summary. I'm sweeping through the assessment as I can, hitting all the unassessed, and then I plan to hit the B-Class articles and review them all. I'm seeing a lot of articles tagged as B-Class which really don't meet the standards. Hiding Talk 10:08, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Nobilus - needs a picture, a little more background and something about the last(?) two storylines he appeared in, which are referenced elsewhere online, but not in the article. --Mrph (talk) 21:36, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Navboxes
Someone here may want to keep an eye on the navboxes. {{Daredevil}} and {{Iron Man}} just went up as all inclusive ones. I've weeded through them, but someone from the workgroup should take a look. - J Greb (talk) 15:18, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- There's also {{Hulk}}, the use of which is generating some minor controversy. --GentlemanGhost (talk) 21:14, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- And {{Thor}}. A thread regarding these has started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics#Nav Box Proliferation. --GentlemanGhost (talk) 02:31, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Also, there's {{Captain America}}, {{X-Men}}, {{Fantastic Four}}, and {{Spider-Man}}, and probably others, but I don't know if any of those are causing any trouble. BOZ (talk) 02:33, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Would Anyone mind if I made a new user Box?
ok sry I have not been like participating in the workgroup, I just found it today, and I found out I was the first name on the members list 8-P. But yea what ever you need me to do I will help. But first can I make a new user box for the workgroup. No offense to the person who made it, it just seems well Bulky.-- Phoenix741(Talk Page) 16:46, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Images for Marvel articles
I have started a new page to address the issue of Marvel articles without images. BOZ (talk) 15:34, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- I have added a section for images which need Fair-use Rationales. Feel free to add to that section, or to provide FURs for anything you see there. BOZ (talk) 17:33, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Something this workgroup needs to be aware of.
Regarding Hulk (comics), this section of its talk, and this 2 part conversation [1] [2].
The upshot is that the GA article is becoming less stable and the editor that moved heaven and earth to get it where it is just got burned.

Jump SQ.
Hello this is Jump Guru from the Jump SQ. page. I was wondering if or if not, the Jump SQ. page should be a part of the Marvel Comics WikiProject. The page helps alot to the project, mostly on the subject of Jump SQ. II (Second). The manga series i'm sure you guys know about: Karakuridōji Ultimo, has inspired a mini book inside SQ.II called Stan Lee the Book!. Stan Lee the Book! is all about Marvel Comics series (e.g. The Amazing Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, etc.), so if anyone has a comment please reply. – 「JUMPGURU」@Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 23:36, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well I'd say the more the merrier. My only concern would be that it is rather a small mention in a much larger article and I'd not want to confuse anyone. If you don't feel it'll leave anyone scratching their head then go for it. (Emperor (talk) 23:57, 7 May 2008 (UTC))
- It won't, unless you're one of those knuckle heads that doesn't pay attention at all. It will make sense, but it definatly should be a part of the project. The article is the only place where we will be able to mention Stan Lee the Book! and Ultimo, i'll post the WikiProject template. Thanks for your help. – 「JUMPGURU」@Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 00:54, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Cleanup

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme
As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.
- The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
- The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
- A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.
Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.
Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! For the 1.0 Editorial Team, §hepBot (Disable) 22:04, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, Mr. Robot. ;) I think that's a great idea. BOZ (talk) 03:07, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Marvel Comics
Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.
We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.
A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.
We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! For the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial team, SelectionBot 23:28, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- That's a pretty good selection - is there anything else worth trying to get in there? :) BOZ (talk) 03:50, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
The discussion regarding D-Man's Avengers status, among other things, has resurfaced on the talk page of the above article. Please see Talk:List of Avengers members#D-Man status being messed with once again and subsequent. The discussion seems to be rather active, and could use a few more outside eyes. Thanks. Input on images
This work group's input on the images currently used in and the proposed replacements for Eddie Brock would be welcome. - J Greb (talk) 02:11, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.
Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.
Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 09:23, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)
Does your WikiProject care about talk pages of redirects?
Does your project care about what happens to the talk pages of articles that have been replaced with redirects? If so, please provide your input at User:Mikaey/Request for Input/ListasBot 3. Thanks, Matt (talk) 02:02, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- That's a good question. I usually tag redirect pages with this work group's name, just in case. It's not unusual that over time someone will turn a redirect back into an article. So, it's probably not a bad idea to keep track of the redirects that pertain to the articles of interest to this work group. --GentlemanGhost (talk) 18:19, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- If the project uses the article alert function, as this project does, that's an additional reason to tag redirects as well, to help ensure that the project has a chance to keep up with any changes to them. John Carter (talk) 18:38, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Does the article alert function work automatically or is it something you need to toggle? --GentlemanGhost (talk) 19:34, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure what you mean, but the article alert page is updated based on the presence of the banner. So, if there's no banner, there's no alert. Wikipedia:Article alerts has most of the data there. John Carter (talk) 19:37, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ah! I get it now. Thanks! --GentlemanGhost (talk) 17:53, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Stephen Colbert on Marvel list?
Would anyone like to take a stab at figuring out why the article for Stephen Colbert (character) is on the (GA-Class_Marvel_Comics_articles), other than vandalism?Jarhed (talk) 03:49, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Sources in FURs
Right now I'm going through Category:Comics images lacking original published source and sorting the images by work group. The Marvel related images are at Category:Comics images lacking original published source/Marvel.
If it's ok, I'm going to ad this clean up to the "to do" list.
- J Greb (talk) 15:12, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- Cool! :) If there's not a ridiculous ton of them, I'd like to help fix them. BOZ (talk) 15:22, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- Added... And right now there are 16 sorted out to there. There's likely to be a few dozen more in the near-ish future. - J Greb (talk) 15:47, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Revisiting this...
The number of unsourced, or partially sourced image in the category is sitting at 67. If someone can help work through where some of these images were first published it would be appreciated.
It's also worth notingthat a good chunk of these are used for infoboxes and important point within articles, and a few of those are relatively high importance articles - File:Mary Jane Watson.jpg, File:Green goblin2.jpg, and File:Ultimate Doctor Doom.jpg for examples.
At some point these image are going to have to be moved from our watching them to Category:Wikipedia files with unknown source, which will see them eventually deleted.

Sledger
Is Sledger legit? I can't find any reference to him, the "The Adventures of The Infamous S.L.E.D.G.E.M.A.N." or any viral marketing campaign (but I'm not a comics guy). I'm tempted to revert back to the sled redirect. 66.57.4.17 (talk) 11:11, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Paydirt (Marvel Comics) article
I was doing new page patrol (backlog) and I came across the above article.
I found an entry at marvel.wikia.com, but I don't know how reliable that is.
There are other results from a Google Search but I don't know which are reliable.
There is an entry at the Comic Book DB here.
I'll leave it for the knowledgeable folks here to sort this one out! -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 16:55, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
