Death of Awaab Ishak
Currently, all information relating to the death of Awaab Ishak is on a subsection of Rochdale Boroughwide Housing. I have expanded the information on this page in preparation for a spinout article, but would appreciate any comments from UK editors or other editors interested in UK issues. Thank you. Image donation from the Royal Albert Memorial Museum
Hello everyone. Last month the Royal Albert Memorial Museum approached Wikimedia UK for help sharing images. As part of our Connected Heritage project we're helping cultural heritage professionals improve their digital skills and share content on Wikimedia sites. Yesterday, RAMM and WMUK worked together to share a few dozen public domain images from their collection, uploaded using Pattypan.

They are mostly of Exeter, with some paintings of historical events (such as the 1880 general election) and from notable people, like Olive Wharry. You can see the rest of the 67 on Commons. Any help adding images to articles would be gratefully received, we're hoping to use this upload to convince other museums in the region to share images, but mostly I wanted to mention it here because it's nice to see a museum sharing their images. Quick help needed!
Hello! On this note: Martin Conway, 1st Baron Conway of Allington#cite note-12, the "column" parameter should be added, but I don't have access to the archives to see which column it is in. Could someone check and add it? Thanks! BhamBoi (talk) 00:20, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
Prince Charles or Charles III??
On Wikipedia, when referring to Charles III before he became king, should he be referred to as Charles III or Prince Charles, because a lot of articles still refer to him as "Prince Charles" and on today's featured article, I changed "Prince Charles" to "Charles III" but it got changed back. GoldenBootWizard276 (talk) 11:27, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
- What about "Charles III, when Prince Charles"?--Bduke (talk) 11:41, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
- do you mean "Charles III, then Prince Charles" GoldenBootWizard276 (talk) 11:46, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
- Possibly the query is inspired by my decision for today's TFA blurb? I write a lot of history articles and it is accepted that figures are referred to by the title they held at the time being referred to - possibly with a parenthetical or foot note. Given how recent Charles' elevation was it seemed worth adding the in line mention - "formally opened by the then Prince Charles". Reconsidering, it still seems a sensible approach, in context. Gog the Mild (talk) 12:10, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
- I think Charles III, then Prince of Wales is best. GoldenBootWizard276 (talk) 16:14, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Seeking nominations for the UK Wikimedian of the Year Awards
The annual UK Wikimedian of the Year Awards recognise the efforts of the community that supports Wikimedia UK and helps us in our work.
There are three categories: Wikimedian of the Year, Partnership of the Year, and Up and Coming Wikimedian of the Year. Details of each category are on our website: https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/UK_Wikimedian_of_the_Year_2023
We are seeking nominations, and the form is linked to from our website. So if there is someone whose work you’d like to recognise, or a particular partnership, please nominate them. You can nominate in one category or all of them. It is helpful to make the nominating statements at least a few sentences long.
We will announce the winners at the online community day that we have planned for late November. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 16:08, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
Save the date: Celtic Knot Wikimedia Language Conference, September 2024
Hello all,
We are very happy to announce that the conference dedicated to minoritized languages on the Wikimedia projects will be back for its 7th edition, to be held in Waterford City, Ireland, in September 2024. The exact date will be announced as soon as possible.
Getting back to its roots, in the Celtic languages and nations, the event gathers people from communities and languages that are underrepresented on the Wikimedia projects. It is a place where people working on growing and maintaining their communities can meet, learn from each other, and support each other on topics like community growth, technical tools, or collaboration with partners.
Celtic Knot 2024, will be an in-person event, held in Waterford, Ireland's oldest city which has an abundance of cultural heritage and history. We are currently exploring options to make conference resources (talks, panels, etc.) available to those who are unable to attend in person.
We are currently gathering input from the community to build a conference tailored to your needs: whether you attended a previous edition of the Celtic Knot or not, if you are involved in underrepresented languages on the Wikimedia Projects, please take a few minutes to fill in the community survey, and make sure to share the information with your local group. The survey is open until January 21st. Many thanks in advance!
As we are starting to build the concept and the program, we will regularly improve the existing event pages on Meta and post updates on the talk page of the event.
The core organizing team is composed of Amy O’Riordan (WCI), Sophie Fitzpatrick (WCI), Daria Cybulska (WMUK), Richard Nevell (WMUK), supported by Léa Lacroix (community engagement consultant). If you have ideas or suggestions, if you would like to get involved in the conference, feel free to contact any of us.
We’re looking forward to seeing you at the Celtic Knot! Best, Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 11:41, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi folks, the survey is still open so if you would like to voice your thoughts on the Celtic Knot please do fill in the survey. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 14:25, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- Closing soon! The survey closes on 21 January, so there is still time to fill in the survey and help the organising team develop the plan for the conference. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 10:40, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
David Lammy
There is a discussion on how to describe David Lammy talk page. Although one editor has dropped their disagreement after realising how other comparable articles, another has not. Would like you to see the arguments, references and then provide input. Erzan (talk) 23:20, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Editathon at the University of Exeter on 11 September 2024
Hello everyone, there is an upcoming event that folks interested in Devon history are welcome to attend. It is part of an ongoing collaboration between Wikimedia UK and GLAM-E Lab, an initiative to help galleries, libraries, archives, and museums learn how to share content under an open licence.
The editathon will be held at the University of Exeter's Digital Humanities Lab.
There will be an aspect of training for new editors, so it's a chance to introduce a friend to Wikipedia editing. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 09:02, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
