Wikipedia talk:Trading card game/Rules proposal 3
Much of what I am going to say is based on the game Bang! but that's ok, game rules are not protected by copyright [1].
The game starts with role cards being handed out face down, only the founder shows his cards the others are kept secret. There are four different roles:
- Founder: Your job is block all of the vandals and the rogue admin
- administrator: You job is to help the founder block the vandals and the rogue admin
- vandal: your job is to block the founder
- rogue admin: You want to replace the founder. To do this you need to first block everyone else - then block the founder.
- 4 players = 1 Founder, 1 rogue Admin, 2 vandals
- 5 players = 1 Founder, 1 rogue Admin, 2 vandals, 1 Deputy
- 6 players = 1 Founder, 1 rogue Admin, 3 vandals 1 admin
- 7 players = 1 Founder, 1 rogue Admin, 3 vandals 2 admins
Since the rogue admin wants to block everyone first and then block the founder, he balances out the two sides. (Since his best strategy is not to let either side get too strong- first block a vandal - then an admin then another vandal, until only he and the founder are left.) This creates an automatic balancing to the game
Each player starts with 4 "health-like point" called "account points", except for the founder who starts with 5. The player loses these points when he is the subject of a "blocked", or similar cards (explained below). The player is blocked and out of the game when he loses all of his points.
On each turn the player starts with drawing two cards. A player cannot play more than one "block" per turn (broken bots, and wheel wars do not count). When he ends his turn he cannot have more cards in his hand (not including those in play) then his current account-points level (he must discards the extra cards).
There are two kinds of cards: those that are placed in front of the player and continually help the player (in play), and those that are used only once.
These are the one-time cards:
- Block: this makes a player the subject of block, if he doesn't have an unblock he loses an account-point
- unblock: can be used when a player is the subject of a block to nullify it.
- broken bot: Every player (except the one who played it) must play a "block" (to block the bot) or lose an account-point.
- auto block: Every player (except the one who played it) must play an "unblock" or lose an account-point.
- Wheel war: Starting the the player who is the subject of the wheel war card (the person who didn't player the card), each player must play a "block" or lose an account-point.
- Rfa: a player who plays an rfa regains one account-point (players cannot have more then he started with and they cannot be played when there are only two players left)
- Featured Article: draw three cards
- good article: draw two cards
- New feature:As many cards are there are players are drawn face up. Starting with the player who played the card, each player takes one card.
- hack account: steal a card that is in front of any player or draw an random card from their hand.
- vandalize: remove and discard a card in front of another player or a random card from their hand.
- checkuser: a player can see two cards (chosen at random), of the person he plays it against.
These cards are placed in front of a player and remain there until removed by a sock-puppet or a vandal
- cabal member: It takes two block cards instead of one to block card a cabal member (can still be nullified with only one unblock), unless the person playing the block is also a cabal member. (cannot have more than one)
- Sock-puppet: A person can play an extra block per turn (can have up to three)
- developers: A player gets 3 cards at the begining of his turn as long as it is in front of him (can only have one)
- wiki-vacation: is placed front of another player; this player only gets one card at the beginning of his turn until it is removed. (can only have one)
- strong password: player cannot be subject of a "hack account"
If the founder, eliminates an admin (does the final block) the Founder must discard all the cards he has in hand and in play.
Any player eliminating an vandal (even if the eliminating player is himself an vandal) draws a reward of 3 cards from the deck.
I think this can be an excellent game.
