Malformed statement of primary issues

[edit]

With the current statement of issues I must reject the request for mediation.

The two issues should be:

  1. What is the appropriate "History" content? History is currently in a separate article, History of IBM CKD Controllers but it could be in a similarly entitled sub-section of Count key data. The questions are what, if anything, is inappropriate in the current history article and, now separate, why should they be combined.
  2. Should the Count key data article be oriented towards description of its many features as it currently is, or should it be oriented towards the somewhat nebulous "Technical details"
    1. If the latter, what exactly does this mean?
    2. If the latter, are the two proposed sub-sections, Basic and ECKD, accurate and sufficient?

With regard to issue 1 note that the separate history article parallels the current construction of the disk drive article, History of IBM magnetic disk drives.

With regard to issue 2 note that in spite of repeated requests there is yet to be posted a complete example of of what is the difference between the material in the desired "History" and "Technical details" sections. In addition there is no reliable source for the first, Basic, of the two proposed subsections.

Finally note that User:Tom94022/Sandbox2 is an alternate construction of Count key data including a section "Technical details." So far the only response is generalities despite several requests for concrete examples that might help resolve the issues. Tom94022 (talk) 01:01, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If the case is accepted for mediation and a committee member agrees to mediate the case, the mediator will discuss with the parties and determine the exact issues to be mediated. The initial statements here are merely an attempt to begin to frame the issues. If at that time you do not wish to participate in mediation of the issues which are determined by the mediator, you may withdraw at that time (or later at any point in the mediation). With this understanding, please indicate on the main page whether or not you wish to participate. For the Mediation Committee, TransporterMan (TALK) 00:31, 11 January 2016 (UTC) (Chairperson)[reply]
