Camera work

[edit]

I'll be back in londinium fresh from uni with a camera; does anyone have anything in London they think the wiki needs pictures of? I remember people mentioning stuff back at what must've been 11 that I never got around to. Ironholds (talk) 16:17, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here you go: Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in London ...that'll keep you busy until lunchtime! :-) -- Harry Wood (talk) 10:21, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
higher res version of Image:Admiralty_Citadel.JPG would be good. Iw as planning on hitting the science museamm again pending comeing up with an alturnative.Geni 04:06, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that was the one! Thanks Geni. I believe it was mentioned at Meet 11/12 (probably 12) but I forgot about it. Ironholds (talk) 06:10, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any volunteers to write something up about the meet?

[edit]

Hi all,

Would anyone like to volunteer to write a summary of this meetup (and if possible, future ones) for the Wiki UK Ltd / Wikimedia UK newsletter (m:Wikimedia UK v2.0/Newsletter)? It would be a good way to spread the word about the meetups to others in the UK.

I would come to this meetup, but I'm busy that weekend teaching people how to use a radio telescope (and there's a meteor shower too - look up if you get a bit of clear sky!). I'll make it to one of these meetups eventually. :( Anyone want to help organize a northern-city meetup sometime? Mike Peel (talk) 00:07, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll do it. While I'm at it I'll see if the signpost would be interested in posting a story on the subject; we might be able to get a few people who've slipped under the radar interested in that way. Ironholds (talk) 04:17, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Thank you. I'll send you a message when we start putting together December's newsletter. Mike Peel (talk) 20:23, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

URGENT: Anyone in London up for an interview?

[edit]

Sky News want to interview someone about the current censor story (tonight, 7pm, London), is anyone available? Is so, please email the uk mailing list (wikimediauk-l@wikimedia.org.uk) immediately (or post here and I'll forward it on). --Tango (talk) 15:11, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it this thing you're talking about?: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/2008 IWF action ...Didn't know about it myself, so I can't really help. Could ask User:David Gerard. Is he in London? He's done press contact stuff before -- Harry Wood (talk) 18:59, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, you're about 24 hours late. David Gerard would have done it but he was appearing on Channel 4 News at the time, it was him that asked for someone else do to it, I was just the messenger. --Tango (talk) 19:08, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies

[edit]

I'm afraid I won't make this one. It would have been great, what with the huge WMF vs IWF saga and whatnot. Unfortunately, I'm up at Oxford getting grilled on why I (foolishly) think they should accept my application, and so won't be able to be there. Merry Christmas, and I hope I'll see a few hardy souls in the New Year! haz (talk) 21:04, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck! My friend went for his PPE interview a few days back; hopefully you'll have better luck than he did (he's convinced he failed).Ironholds (talk) 08:09, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
