Pitch Notation Systems
[edit]When indicating musical pitches using shorthand systems such as Helmholtz pitch notation or Scientific pitch notation, introduce the article or section by stating the system in use. A template, Pitch system will produce messages such as these. See the template documentation for use:
Be sure to use consistent typographic conventions throughout each article.
Helmholtz pitch notation
[edit]There are multiple ways of rendering this system graphically, but here are some examples:
- Using LaTeX math formatting:
- Using the Stress (linguistics) marks available from the IPA or IPA (English) insert menu below the edit window for desktop editors: B♭ˌˌ–f♯ˈˈ
Scientific pitch notation
[edit]Use subscript formatting (available from the edit window advanced toolbar for desktop editors) for notes, e.g. G♯0.
