Some questions

[edit]

Hi! Thanks a lot for the event and the report. I found out about this through Wikimedia NYC Twitter account.

Given my involvement in the development and maintenance of Content Translation, I have a few questions about the past events:

  • When you say "translation tool", do you mean Content Translation? That's the standard name.
  • Are you familiar with the page Best practices for Content Translation events?
    • If yes, was it helpful?
    • If you have anything to add or correct on that page, can you please do it? I wrote its first version, but I don't own it, and I welcome input from other people with relevant experience, especially from other countries.
  • Machine translation to Nepali: It works for me. Can anyone please test it again?
  • Machine translation to Tibetan: Unfortunately it doesn't exist in any of the machine translation service providers I'm aware of. If anyone knows about such a service, it may be possible to try to integrate it.
  • Machine translation Italian, English, and German: This is not enabled yet, but may be enabled in the future.
  • German and Italian also require permission to publish translation if you aren’t an approved - it's easy to publish to a draft by clicking the gear icon. There may be more improvements to make it even easier in the near future.
  • In your experience, is the outreach dashboard a good tool for such events?
