gam bot

[edit]

Hi @Aircorn:, following up on the bot request at Wikipedia:Bot_requests#Wikipedia:Good_articles/mismatches.

Thinking two ways the bot could run. Automatically every X days, or on request. If requested, it would be an automated switch like a string in the page the bot checks daily and if the switch is turned on then the bot runs. Sort of like a bot stop button mechanism. In either case, it would completely overwrite whatever is in the page with new data. What do you think? -- GreenC 15:28, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think automatically would be best. Maybe once-a-week? I will create a link to here from the main WP:GA page so it is easy to find. Thanks for doing this. AIRcorn (talk) 16:54, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok that will make it a little easier. No problem, I enjoy putting the tools I developed to practical use. -- GreenC 17:32, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Aircorn:, report posted, seems like a lot of mismatches.. let me know any problems. -- GreenC 21:43, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. That is a lot, but it was better than it was a year ago. Usually it is pretty easy to fix; just a matter of adding or removing a link or template. I will work through them over the next little while and will ping you if I notice any problems. One minorish thing. Is it possible to add some intro writing to the top of the page. Just some info on what the page is, how to fix mismatches etc. I am happy to do it, but I don't want to mess with what the bot does. AIRcorn (talk) 22:09, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes can add that. How about the bot will prepend whatever is in Wikipedia:Good articles/mismatches/doc -- GreenC 23:07, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Potential false positives

[edit]

@GreenC: The above all have been moved in 2016, which seems like a pretty unlikely coincidence. AIRcorn (talk) 10:16, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Frequency

[edit]

Actually the bot was running 3x a week but I just set it back to 1x (early Friday morning). It could by anything though. -- GreenC 13:12, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Offline

[edit]

The report was offline from Dec 1 to Dec 10 due to the migration at Toolforge it's on a new server. Appears to be working again. Please report any data problems. -- GreenC 07:09, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not running right since Feb

[edit]

The Wikipedia:Good articles/all page was modified in February, it blinded the bot from parsing about 50% of the articles. The problem was not detected and fixed until today, that is why there is a sudden bump in number of problems, it's the backlog of those 50% for the past 6 months. I added some better instructions in that page Special:Diff/1237436963/1240124928 to notify bot ops of changes. -- GreenC 17:32, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
