Retired number template
[edit]Sanfranciscogiants17, there is a problem with the retired number template that is not yours, but needs to be addressed by the Baseball project, or fixed in this article. See a sample of the problem at Sandy Koufax, which I fixed by removing the template and switching to a manually added image of the retired number.[1] The image caption for the retired number should be cited, but when one tries to add the citation, the formatting within the template is incorrect, placing the ref before the punctuation. The options here are to figure out who in the Baseball project can fix this, or to do the image without using the template. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 19:28, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- SandyGeorgia There is another image I'd be happy to use: File:GiantsWillie Mays.png. However, I wanted to point out that the information mentioned in the template is already cited in the article body (third paragraph of the Post-MLB baseball section). Does the retired number image still need a citation? If so, I will replace with the photo. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 13:23, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
- I am not sure if it will be called out as requiring citation, but I would cite it. The most expedient thing to do here is to figure out who messed up that template, or who can fix it. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:53, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
- I will make a post to Village Pump Technical asking for help; stay tuned ;) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:01, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Please see the instructions at WP:FAC. "Done" checkmarks (and the like) are not used at FAC as they cause the page to reach the software limits on templates, which makes parts of the page disappear. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:47, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- @SandyGeorgia: Got it. Thanks for letting me know! Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 15:08, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
