A-class and WikiCup

[edit]

If this is still at A-class review, it shouldn't also be here[1]-- there is no reason to tax two sets of reviewers, and WikiCup participation should be declared. Also, spot checks should be done there for close paraphrasing, etc. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:41, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry Sandy, I didn't mean to act out of procedure. I was not aware that ACR and FACs could not run concurrently, and as I say I'd rather that didn't have to be the case. I note there that the ACR can be closed if that's a problem. I would have mentioned the Cup if I believed it altered the nomination in some way, which I don't believe it does. I obviously have plenty of other reasons why I'd like the article to be an FA. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 14:58, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It alters things as far as I'm concerned, as I don't review Cup nominations as a matter of principle. Malleus Fatuorum 15:01, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry for that, then, Malleus. Please accept stupidity over malice. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 15:06, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just a quick response, I'm busy IRL ... Grandiose, I hope you understand that there's a lot of tedious stuff for FAC people to deal with ... and asking for two simultaneous reviews and being in the Wikicup are two historic signals that we may want to take the nominator's statements with a grain of salt, thus the response you're getting. Even if this FAC is stopped (archived) for a few days until the A-class review is done, please don't think that you've done something that's going to be held against you, you haven't. Guys ... I've seen enough of Grandiose's work that I'm positive he's one of the good guys and will be a great asset to historical articles for as long as he stays around. - Dank (push to talk) 16:19, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, it won't be held against him, and he has responded well, and I've noticed it's a wider problem with WikiCup not enforcing their rules. BTW, Should Grandiose decide to withdraw this until the A-class review ends, I would allow him to re-nominate as soon as A-class is done, without waiting the normal two weeks. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:21, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm passing the A-class review, as it basically has three supports with Piotrus anyway. I've made this mistake before too, Grandiose, so don't fret too much. :-) Coincidentally, I'm also a judge in the WikiCup, so I can somewhat address Sandy's concern. J Milburn and I don't know of Cup participants' FACs until after they pass, as that's when they get listed on the submissions page (if they don't pass, we never know). I'll leave a note on WT:CUP to remind everyone, but I think that's basically the best I can do. My apologies, Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 19:51, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
