The purpose of prose reviews

[edit]

Tony, you seem to have a gross misunderstanding of the purpose of FAC reviews, which I suspect contributes to how unpleasant it is to review your articles. My prose-related feedback is not designed to get the prose to adhere to a policy; it is designed to point out why the prose does not meet criterion 1a. The FA criteria are not policies, they are guidelines by which FAs may be promoted and demoted. If you don't agree with my suggestions, rebut them or don't make them. But don't tell me I'm wrong to make the suggestion because no objective standard is at hand. That's just absurd. --Laser brain (talk) 05:13, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, your objections were ostensibly filed as a result of attention on this FAC as a result of a flurry of posts regarding all issues being resolved here and need for me to get on to the next FAC nom which is a March 4 centenary candidate. Are the last three FACs you have supported are significantly superior to this in terms of WIAFA and 1A? I do understand FAC, but I apparently fail at the politics of WP. Your commentary is a little off and not always a matter of grammatical propriety. In fact, a matter of personal preference like verb choice (perform and serve) is a bit much, but you are free to derail the process as you see fit.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 05:26, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am a serious reviewer trying to get the best articles passed. I review multiple FACs a day, sometimes providing the only substantive prose review. Ostensibly filed as a result of a flurry of posts? You bet. The article needs attention. Derail the process? I won't even lower myself to respond. You should be ashamed of your conduct. --Laser brain (talk) 06:27, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't gotten the holier than thou argument before. But any attention you give the candidate will be responded to and will surely make the article better. I nominate stuff regularly and the ones that pass are those that get the most attention. So if you have any more to give, I'm watching the page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 07:09, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
