In order to determine the general consensus on the highly debated topic of the fair use of magazine covers as set forth by the fair use criteria, this straw poll has been created 16:33, 18 August 2006 (UTC).

Before voting on this, please be sure to read the following discussions/articles: Wikipedia talk:Fair use#Hilton_Playboy_cover_clarification?, Wikipedia:Fair use criteria, Wikipedia:Fair use criteria/Amendment 2, and Template:Magazinecover.

Examples of the articles in question are Joanna Krupa, Heidi Strobel, and Brooke Burke. Please note: these are not the only articles. They are only representative of articles that have spurred constant debate.

Once you have read the previous information, please indicate whether or not you support the removal of these images.   • I don't understand what "keep" and "remove" are meant to correspond to. They need to correspond to specific policy implications, not blanket "keep the images" or "remove the images" orders. I also encourage everyone who is thinking about this from a legal point of view to read the ruling on Bill Graham Archives v. Dorling Kindersley Ltd., et al (Google brings up a lot of links discussing it), which directly pertains to the use of reduced-size versions of one type of media (in that case, a poster, but it could easily have been a magazine cover) for the purposes of illustrating in another type of media (in that case, an illustrated biography, but it could easily have been an encyclopedia). --Fastfission 16:52, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
