Tips and Suggestions

[edit]
  1. It's great to see everyone getting started in their sandboxes! One thing to keep in mind is that you generally want to leave edit summaries when making changes to live articles. You don't need to worry about this when working in your sandbox or other spaces under your user name. But when you edit articles in the main article space, it's helpful to leave an edit summary so that other contributors can see what you've done and your rationale behind it more quickly. It's not a necessity to leave an edit summary for every single small change you make, but I often do anyway, and with larger changes it's considered good practice to leave an edit summary. 2. Now that we're in the review stage, I'm looking forward to reading everyone's live articles. I'll be using the Wikipedia templates for article improvements -- you've probably seen these before at the head of Wikipedia articles, requesting improvements to show the article's notability, add additional citations, or clarify existing citations, or many other options. These templates will link you right to the Wikipedia guidelines, but you should also feel free to contact me on my talk page or vial email if you want additional explanation or help. A few other things:
  • Make sure you've left the course template on the talk page of your article, so others know you will be actively improving the article over the semester.
  • And remove the sandbox template from your live article, since it's no longer in your sandbox.
Happy editing! AmandaRR123 (talk) 17:32, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
