Move talk history, too?

[edit]

One reason I didn't move this article to a new page myself (after having suggested it) is that I don't have the experience in doing a clean page move. Could someone who knows how to do this move the relevant lines of edit history in WP:Village pump (proposals) over to this page? Or is this inadvisable or technically unfeasible? Are there any other things that need to be adjusted (like "What links here")? —— Shakescene (talk) 01:35, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that it's technically possible to move pieces of a page's history to another page. I'd love to be incorrect about that, though! I'm also not aware of anything that was linking to this discussion on the Village pump, but yea, if anyone knows of any links there then they should go ahead and change them.

It is possible, but fragile, and I would not want to try it on a busy page like the village pump. It requires deleting the page, undeleting selected revisions, moving them, undeleting the other revisions, etc. It's only done when there are extreme circumstances, like a failed history merge. — Carl (CBM · talk) 02:11, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yea, that I know about... don't. It ain't worth it.

Right now I can't seem to get to the original page. I had hoped to be able to read the responses to RexxS suggestion, which I liked, that the reference aid be turned on "by default." I guess I can read these in my watchlist though I don't seem to be able to read them together. Student7 (talk) 21:27, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
