Cleanup
I've removed from the list every editor which hasn't edited since October 15. If nobody objects, I would remove everybody who hast been active in the last month. If a new user needs help, he cannot get it from an inactive editor. Also, I'll drop a line to all the editor which has been thru a WP:CU to ask them if they're still interested and in case, if they can update their information. Snowolf How can I help? 21:59, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- To me the table seems very long. I would cut on the statements and reduce the font. I'll see if I can work something on this. Snowolf How can I help? 22:37, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- Any comments on this design? Snowolf How can I help? 15:21, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- I think it looks cleaner with the smaller font, so I instituted it. Any objections? xenocidic (talk) 02:27, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I desire to be adopted by any experienced non-Filipino, any foreigner adopter
Since the first adopter ended the adoption at his and my option, and when I posted the template adoption for the first time, I opted and insisted on the adoption by an impartial, non-Filipino, any nationality other than Filipino, AND not related to any Filipino user or editor, so that the problems of many useless and irrelevant messages from Filipino editors might be tempered if not permanently enjoined, and to tutor me on the fine demarcation line between news and encyclopedia content. - --Florentino floro (talk) 06:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Spring cleaning...
New adopter here, hope I wasn't too bold, but I cleaned the list a bit, removing anyone who has been inactive for over two months. In cases where they had already declared themselves not adopting any longer, I left them - but perhaps they should be removed as well? Anyhow, the ones I did remove, I left them the following messages on their talk page, feel free to use it in future housekeeping:
“ | Is there anybody out there?
Hey... Since you've been inactive for over two months, I removed your entry from the [[Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adoptee's Area/Adopters|Adopter's page]]. I do hope you come back, however, so I left your entry in a hidden comment within this message. <!-- DO NOT DELETE |

It's a bit of extra work, but hopefully it brings some people back around. I also implemented the smaller font that Snow suggested above, let me know if you think it's too small. xenocidic (talk) 03:19, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- As for boldness, you weren't. I proposed changes four months ago, no reply :)
- Thank you very much for these much-needed updates. This page isn't useful if it's not updated. Snowolf How can I help? 20:26, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I noticed that... Was confused that it wasn't implemented because the page was waay too long with the normal font. Cheers, xenocidic (talk) 20:55, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
I want to be adopted by any foreign (non-Filipino) adopter
Since my former adopters iaNLOPEZ1115 and User:Diligent Terrier resigned and retired from Wikipedia, respectively, and for other reasons, I want to be adopted by any non-Filipino adopter. I am proud to be Filipino, but I prefer to be adopted by a foreigner, it is my tailor taste. --Florentino floro (talk) 12:12, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- I've moved your comment to chronological order and removed the userbox (it would inappropraitely place this page in a category of those wishing to be adopted). Why don't you try reviewing the list of those willing to adopt for non-Filipino editors and asking directly? Mass-mail requests on talk pages don't usually get much reply. WLU (talk) 13:50, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
May I ask comment on this please
User:Maxschmelling has added[1] or edited thusly: User:Diligent Terrier is not currently accepting new adoptees[2][3]. I am presently under Terrier's adoption and Terrier had been very very diligent in my tutorial. Now, this time, Terrier removed his template Wikibreak and stated on his user page:This user is busy in real life and may not respond swiftly to queries. What is the point of Max editing Administrator Terrier's adopter's page. What is the basis? It behooves, that out of respect to my parent, Max should have first posted his edit suggestion on Terrier's talk page. Worst, Max wrote: "but I don't think you should take on any new adoptees at this time." Without respectfully waiting for reply, Max went ahead.[4] May I please ask you to share your comment on this? Cheers. --Florentino floro (talk) 10:08, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- There is no issue here. If DilligentTerrier disagrees, s/he can change this back. Max posted a message on DT's talk page, it's not like he's trying to trick anyone. It's common sense. If DT is too busy to engage much on talk pages, s/he is probably too busy to adopt. I realize you and Max have had numerous conflicts, but this is not worth picking a fight over, and that is what it looks like you are doing. Let it go. WLU (talk) 12:33, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- A little follow-up here. Diligent Terrier is still listed as adopting, he has 22 adoptees (by his count) and as of today, Nov 6 2008, he hasn't made an edit on wikipedia for well over a month (last edit Sept 30). Before that he was variously "retired" and "semi-retired" for much of the summer. He didn't get the message about updating his status here because his signature on this page is so fancy that it doesn't link to his talkpage. oops. I think he should not be listed as adopting. Or at least he should not be listed as "on wikipedia almost every day". And I think his adoptees should be notified of his inactivity and encouraged to find someone who is likely to be more responsive. But I dare not make any changes myself because I was heavily admonished for touching his entry here before (except by WLU above who seems rather sensible). thanks. xschm (talk) 23:44, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
How to become an adopter
I am not fully clear on this. I think this would benefit from a section explaining how to become an adopter the same way it explains how to become an adoptee. Specifically: do we just add ourself to this page and the category Category:Wikipedians seeking to adopt in Adopt-a-user? Or is there an application process or something? Is there anything to prevent people who aren't fit to be adopters from doing so, or say for an adoptee to file a complaint, or adopter review for someone who isn't active, stuff like that? Furthermore, rather than a category, is there a userbox which will add the category? Userboxes are awesome. Even so, barring that I'll just add the category until I find one. But before I do, I want to make sure it is okay to do that or if there's some kind of preliminary process. Tyciol (talk) 20:31, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

doesn't anyone like me? Raiku Lucifer Samiyaza 03:59, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
More page cleanup?
I think the following changes would be helpful. I will plan to do them myself in 2-4 weeks unless I hear otherwise.
- Put a standardized color guide at the top of the subject page (BonesBrigade's color seems inconsistent from what I can see)
- Create a new section so the folks currently accepting new folks can be at the top, and a separate section below for people not currently accepting adoptees, but who may be willing to answer questions or provide more general help. Should this be split into two separate pages, though?

- P.S. I now see some additional clean-up related discussion is to be found at here -- Vaarky (talk) 09:52, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Need for mentors and a project similar to this one
Two comments:
- I am seeking mentors who are willing to help those who approach Wikiproject User Rehab in search of a mentor.
- A system for mentoring similar to the Adoption/adoptee system needs to be set up, with a category, project, {{mentorme}} template, and all. Who has the courage to start such a worthy endeavor?
Please comment here if you are interested or just curious. -- Brangifer (talk) 02:59, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
strategy process and mentors
The Strategy wiki has a number of newbies who really want to help wikipedia grow but are unfamiliar with wiki processes. Like the commenter above, that wiki is looking for mentors willing to help them get their feet wet and find proposals and task forces on strategy-wiki to contribute to. I pointed Eugene to this page, in case he can say more. Contact him for more information! +sj+ 23:36, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
Mass update
About to remove all users who haven't edited in the last 30, who have retired, been banned or have otherwise indicated that they are not able to adopt. New users can't get help from inactive users. Will also message users who have changed their name but haven't changed it here asking them to update the information or remove themselves if not interested. Snowolf How can I help? 10:32, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Another mass update
I've removed more inactive users and sent a message through a bot to the ~150 users that were listed on this page to update their entry. I'll continue to watch this project and see how I can help out. Netalarmtalk 07:02, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
New approach
I'm going to try a radical new approach for easier organization. Let's see how it works... Netalarmtalk 21:32, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
