About the project
[edit]This is a project page to increase visibility and diversify Aotearoa New Zealand war related content.
Utilising Auckland Museum's Online Cenotaph database, this project will have a collection of core focuses.
These will include:
- Creating articles and subsequent wikidata items for service people from migrant backgrounds who fought for New Zealand.
- Strengthening information surrounding women who served and supported the war effort.
- Enriching content about New Zealand's involvement in The Borneo Confrontation 1963-1966.
- Enriching content about New Zealand's engagement in Jayforce 1945-1948.
- Enriching content about New Zealand's involvement in The Korean War 1950-1953.
- Enriching content about New Zealand's involvement in The Malayan Emergency 1948-1960 and The Malaya War 1960-1964.
- Enriching content about New Zealand's involvement in The South African War 1899-1902.
- Enriching content about New Zealand's involvement in The Vietnam War 1961-1975.
- Utilising Auckland Museum's collections of WWI Troopship Magazine
- Enriching existing conflict pages with New Zealand info/involvement
Online Cenotaph
[edit]Auckland War Memorial Museum's Online Cenotaph is a biographical database and living memorial to people who served for Aotearoa New Zealand in conflict. This project will utilise the extensive and ever-growing database to create, strengthen and diversify information about Aotearoa New Zealand's war history.
