This course is an introduction to professional writing as distinct from academic writing. The course introduces elements of the rhetorical situation (audience, purpose, style, genre, design, accessibility, usability) and discourse analysis. Developing an "editorial mindset" is an overarching goal, conceived broadly, as students join the course from multiple disciplines.
