This course is an introduction to professional writing as distinct from academic writing. The course introduces elements of the rhetorical situation (audience, purpose, style, genre, design, accessibility, usability) and includes a research component tied to discourse analysis. Developing an "editorial mindset" is an overarching goal, conceived broadly, as students join the course from multiple disciplines.
