This course focusses entirely on improving existing and writing new articles in Wikipedia. The topic is quite general but with a focus on solid earth processes. Solid earth does not include the atmosphere but can include the oceans and includes the entire earth history, earth formation, earth's composition, plate tectonics processes, earthquakes, volcanoes, environment. Students will find articles that need improvement or need to be written and will spend 12 weeks (one semester) writing these articles. In order to lead up to this large assignment, students will also update graphics in Wikipedia articles that relate to solid earth processes.
