Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunami frequently remind us of the dangers associated with living on a constantly changing planet. How do people prepare for these rare but dramatic events? Students will study the science behind earthquakes and volcanoes, how they guide monitoring, forecasting, prevention, and response, and the cultural and ethical aspects of these events.
Students will work in pairs to edit a Wikipedia page associated with an earthquake or volcanic event, to enhance the geological background of the event and summarize future hazard and mitigation/preparation initiatives
