The course covers training of translating various texts in Japanese to English including considerations for linguistics' and cultural differences.

Leaning objectives: After fulfilling the required assignments successfully, students will be able to

  1. translate everyday topics such as social news, politics, entertainments, etc. in Japanese to English using learned general translation techniques and terminologies
  2. practice translating simple documents followed by a peer review (proof-reading by comparing the translated materials to the original materials)
  3. translate a text of any form in their chosen field (preferably, their own specialized field with some background knowledge in English).

Students use WikiEdu for their final projects, which weights 30% of the course grade.
