English 1302 builds on the concepts of writing studies, rhetoric, academic research, and information literacy introduced in ENGL 1301. As a part of this course, students will read, apply, and reflect on the current research and scholarship in writing studies. Moreover, students will learn how to transfer, deepen, and extend their ability to use writing in discipline-specific, workplace, and civic contexts by participating in online writing and research communities.

As part of their learning community experience, students are co-enrolled in introductory level early American History, a Writing and First-Year Seminar courses. As a member of this online writing and research community students will engage in introductory academic research and writing related to a topic, issue, event or individual whose contributions are considered intellectually or culturally significant.
