Milestones

Once you have completed the training (10 minutes), locate an article on your hometown.  Most articles on cities and town need corrections or updates.  Locate 1-2 places where you can make a correction and do it.  That correction could be fixing a typo, adding up-to-date information, or adding a URL.

Your goal is to (1) update the page [even a minor update] and (2) assure that you understand how to edit in Wikipedia.

Week 11

Course meetings
Monday, 5 November 2018
Milestones

Your Wikipedia assignment is to help create a more robust page.  While the page is currently titled "Intellectual property education", our goal is to increase its content and add materials specifically on copyright education.  After our edits are complete, the page will then be named "Copyright and Intellectual Property Education."

Please go the page, look at what is there, and begin to consider what information you would want to see added to it.  We will be discussing this (i.e., what to add) in more detail through the Blackboard LMS.  However, consider adding links (and descriptions) to copyright libguides, training videos, webinars, articles, etc.  Please aim to add five useful, high-quality resources.

Week 12

Course meetings
Monday, 12 November 2018
Milestones

Adding content to the Intellectual property education page means locating reputable information, being willing to add it to the page in a way that makes sense (and is useful), and providing a citation for the information.  This week continue to work on what you want to add and do the research that is needed.  However, do not add your content yet.

Your Sandbox

So that you can edit without worrying about the public facing page, we have created a sandbox.  Editing in this place is like editing a draft. You can work on what you want to add to the page, how you want it to be worded (or look), etc., without fear of doing something wrong on the public Intellectual Property Education page.

Follow this to get to the sandbox.

The Sandbox versus the Public Page

If you have been working in the sandbox, where you can draft/edit without fear, and have your text the way you want it, now is the time to move that text to thepublic page on Intellecual Property Education.
