This course is for students who want to gain confidence in the selection, location and evaluation of electronic information used for academic research. LIS1002 is a one-credit course that teaches students basic information competencies needed to effectively use electronic resources. The course focuses on the information and computer literacy skills required for successful college coursework and lifelong learning. These skills will help you define, locate, and evaluate information in a variety of electronic formats.

The format for this class is unique in that the face-to-face portion of this one credit research skills class takes place on Saturday, April 6 from 8am-5pm. The class then has one week of follow-up work online.

Significant time will be spent in the face-to-face class to allow students to work through the learning modules and practice making edits. Contributions to the selected Wikipedia articles using credible sources outlined during class lecture and exercises are to be completed by the time the course ends on April 14.
